In the mid 20 - teens, a Facebook poll which erroneously stated that 50% of comic book readers were females. Ever since then , comic book & Studios have been chasing this elusive ‘modern audience’ because they think they can tap this gold mine of unrealized fans.

They don’t exist. They’re not developing newer fans to replace the ones they have driven away.

Disney was utterly blindsided with the popularity of the character, they didn't even have merch ready to go for Christmas the 1st season. Which is weird, since Lucas chose to cuten he franchise up since the Ewoks.

At least Onc Piece has a huggable character that can speak.

I like Favreau, so I hope he knocks it out of the park. But I'm just not seeing much hype for this film. What are your predictions for it?

I think Pedro Pascal fatigue is setting in at this point. I will go see it because I have been a huge Star Wars nerd since I was young. I think it will be a more family centered fun movie. Hard core older fans probably won't like it as much as the OG trilogy (shocker) but the younger fans will really enjoy it.

Overall, it won't make a billion at the office but I think those days are over in the cinemas. I think it will land around 500 million and stick there. It will get a big rush up front for a couple weeks and if they let it linger for a couple months in the theaters, it will trickle it's way to 500 million.

That is hilarious considering what a whore Lucas was for merchandising. He even signed off on this lollipop thing that is horrific:

I think it makes 400-500 mil when it's all said and done and is another movie in the Disney bank for D+. It'll do the job. It's been so poorly marketed, I feel like Disney is purposefully saving the money knowing it won't be a billion dollar movie.

Flop.

It is too child like. Trailers look corny and Teletubby level of childishness. I’ll go see it, but it’s going to suck.

The AI Heir to the Empire is pretty good. Only chapter one is out. But I like the changes to tie in to existing characters.

And the ones that DO exist, like the traditional comics and heroes that were the staple of the industry for decades. They don’t like the “girls get it done” bullshite any more than the rest of us.
