I have a hard time finding humor in black comedy movies.

The funny thing is that you hear anecdotal evidence the converse happens in spades - Diego Luna's father allegedly sobbing with joy after SW:RO because "he sounded like me", etc. If folks on the left were to be believed, a movie can't be enjoyed unless half of the UN is represented in the leading cast.

I have a fear of preachiness but I liked something like Wonder Woman. I also like a lot of Denzel Washington movies, plays a lot of guys where they could be anybody but he's black so they are.

Wow you put a lot of work into that. I specifically said female badasses . Which means the special forces/Kung fu/killing 100 dudes type. Not simply a main protagonist

The only good one I’d say was uma Thurman kill bill

Actually, Kathy Bates in Misery makes perfect sense because she’s a large, strong, imposing woman and the male lead is just anything but.

Seeing 90lb stick figures beat up 270lb trained killers in hand to hand combat over and over again may be sexy, but it is just ridiculous. It requires serious suspension of disbelief. All they have to do is give those agile little female badasses some knives or a gun (Mr. and Misses Smith) and it makes sense again, but Black Widow knocking out giant trained assassins with one punch? Please.

Doesn't bother me at all if the film/actress/etc...is bad it's bad. I do hate the Ghostbusters type nonsense where it's clear they have women just to push an agenda.

James fricking Caan? For frick's sake... He's not a big man, for sure, be he normally plays characters who are imposing and intimidating.

In Misery, that was that was great acting on both Bates' and Caan's part, plus the directing was fantastic. That was not an example of a literal difference in the physicality of the leads supporting the story.

I don't watch comedies with a female lead. They just aren't funny.

Women are funny. Get over it.

It doesn't bother me as long as their isn't an agenda that takes me out of the story. For example, that series Sense8 had potential but it kept forcing gay sex and trannies on me. I get why but it would take me out of the story. Black Panther was really well done in Civil War and I am looking forward to the movie. Wonder Woman might be the first DC movie I've enjoyed in awhile.

Raise your hand if Leslie Jones was the first image that popped into your head upon reading the title.

Depends. If it's a forced female/ black role simply because they're female and/or black, then it's probably bad anyways.

P.s. I don't relate to white roles better just because they're white though.

I can name infinitely more white actors I avoid like the plague.

Tyler Perry movies are made specifically for black people

Is that the guy that's in the Madea movies? I always thought those movies were made for a certain segment of white people who wanted to see what they thought a "good" black female character acted like.

But my father refuses to watch movies like wonder woman and black panther because he can't relate to the character

That's one of the stupidest fricking things I've ever heard. How dense is your father to not be able to watch a movie because he isn't the same gender, color, whatever as the protagonist?

quote:

He loves IT

So he's a fricking demon clown? Because he can relate to this demon clown thing?

Your dad sounds like a retard.

I don't have issues watching an action movie with a black or female lead such as Wonder Woman and Black Panther. I do, however, struggle to watch most black comedies as I don't have the same sense of humor and generally don't find them funny.
