Great film but I’ve always had one big problem with it though. Dude gets sprayed with this liquid that ultimately changes his DNA. How has that not happened to anyone else before?

Anyone else before? That container with the liquid which sprayed on him was being hidden by the prawn and was clearly extremely valuable. Why it would turn HIM into one is sort of a odd plot device, if it was used to help power the device and possibly allow them back to their ship, home.

One of those movies I was about 2 minutes away from turning off and then... holy shite I was sucked in.

I think of it as a "do it all" nanomachine fluid. When injected into the ship - it repairs the problems to make it fly. When injected into a prawn, it repairs damage/illness to return them to good "prawn'-shape.
When it sprays on a human... It sees a prawn that is VERY sick (as its another species) and slowly rectifies 'the issue'

One of the more creative and original movies I’ve ever seen
Koobus was a great villain, the weapons they came up with were bad arse too

They've already done enough Hunger Game spinoffs.

I need to give this a rewatch. Haven't seen it since it was in theaters.
