Friend,

We saw it last night. It was a beautiful remake. The songs were lovely, the dwarves entertaining, and the visuals spectacular. It is much more watchable than the original.

Yeah you're right. I forgot all the single dudes never watched the original before and therefore should have no interest in the remake. You got me.

Just got out of it with my daughter. I agree, best live action remake since the jungle book. Great acting all around. All of the twists made sense and no woke stuff was shoe horned in. Really missing out if you choose not to see it but it deserves high praise.

I was like 'Lulz". Then I saw
quote:

Hookah

And everything suddenly made sense. I can only imagine seeing a Spanish Snow White and grotesquely animated dwarfs while wasted. It would be like a religious experience

Youre an idiot

The movie sold 17M tickets during the Great Depression. A time when you didnt take your family out to the movies. And movie goers were mainly young couples on dates. Also:
quote:

It was the highest-grossing film of 1938, and briefly holding the record of the highest-grossing sound film of all time, and is still the highest-grossing animated film. The film was a tremendous critical success, with many reviewers hailing it as a genuine work of art, recommended for both children and adults. Snow White is "entertainment that should be enjoyed by every one. Intelligent adults will marvel at the mechanical ingenuity that went into the making of it; and it is something to marvel at, for at times the characters seem lifelike."

You dont do that with a mom and daughter only audience. Everyone wanted to see it, even single males, because no one had done animation like this before

Friend,

Perhaps my most favorite special effect was in the mine when Dopey trips and falls face first into a chest of diamonds. He recovers with diamond spectacles. It is the same effect you see if you spin one of the barrels in the line at Disney World’s Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride. The Dopey character plays a far more interesting role in this version than in the original. Disney did justice to the dwarfs, expanding their personalities and making them more integral to the story. 7/10

Im talking about the target audience for Snow White in 2025. It's not 1937 anymore where there are 5 movies a year and they are introducing a brand new concept.

It's Snow White. The original is far more culturally significant that just "moms and daughters," and this one should have been also.

Culturally significant? All these remakes are money grabs. Nothing more.

Agreed. It was so good my family and friends want to see it again tonight.

The original Snow White is one of the best selling movies of all time. It literally built Walt Disney's company. You make yourself look more like an idiot every time you repeat this nonsense.

I'm not defending this movie but this isn't the original dumbass. This wasn't made for middle aged men. The target audience is 1) Women <35, 2) women >35, and 3) men <35. That would be the case even if they hired a fair skinned actress to play Snow White.

I said:

To which you responded:

See how what you said is completely irrelevant to what I said?

So you’re just ignoring this part? You know the entire reason why I posted…

and this one should have been also.

Again. All of these remakes are money grabs. There is nothing culturally significant about them.

Way to be a selective tool.

Yeah i cant even name a recent movie that was culturally significant. There are a million choices of things to watch, and the younger generations are watching youtube, not movies.

I don't understand this crusade of yours with Disney, but there's no doubt that it's yours and you're all in.

i didn't see a single one of those in theaters. what impact did they have on the culture of America exactly?

For comparison,1946 holds the distinction of being the peak year of movie attendance, impressively claiming more than 90 million weekly admissions (or 60 percent of the population).

What would that number (percentage wise) look like in 2025? I feel like it would be impossible for any movie to have the cultural significance of movies released back then, despite imjustafatkids claim that this movie should have.

Obviously times have changed. But D&W was a huge R rated smash hit that helped create millions of annoying videos of people dancing to Nsync. Nsync also saw a massive surge in downloads.
