Disney+ has updated its subscriber agreement to allow advertising before and after movies and shows across every subscription tier. The change quietly ends completely ad-free streaming on the platform, even for those paying top dollar.
That includes the Premium plan, which costs $18.99 a month and was originally sold on the promise of an uninterrupted viewing experience.
Subscribers now face an on-screen prompt when logging in, requiring them to actively accept the updated terms before they can keep watching.
In an email sent out to subscribers, Disney confirmed that all plans may now include promotional content, sponsorships and advertisements before and after playback. Disney also noted in an update on its official support page that live events and linear channels will feature regular commercial breaks regardless of plan type.

So lame
But I will just not watch the ads, I will either go pee or play on my phone instead

Yeah if they're going to screw us with ads, at least it's the before/after content variety

Member when folks were freaking out over the idea that ISPs like Xfinity would reduce speed on their streaming competition? Now, no one bats an eye when Disney strong arms their competitors over ESPN.

Much preferable. I just mute them until they're done.
