Moving to Shreveport in a few weeks and was trying to pick between Dish Network or DirecTV for my TV needs. Comcast is the cable option and I've heard horror stories about them. Anybody have any strong recommendations either way?

Was looking up DirecTV deals this AM. 12 months with 200+ channels + 3 mo. of HBO, Shotime, Cinemax free + NFL Sunday Ticket free = $48 after tax. Next 12 months the bill jumps to about $95. But still, $48 for a year is a pretty sweet deal. Plus with the NFL package its' almost a steal. Thinking about switching to them once I move in August and just using my cable provider now for internet purposes only.

I've had both and the answer is DirecTV and it's not close.

I'm in the minority, but I prefer Dish. Plus they have the SEC Network, NFL Redzone w/ Scott Hansen, and they're not owned by AT&T.

I just switched to Direc TV from Cox. I had never tried satellite TV, plus they gave me that great promotion with free NFL Sunday Ticket plus 30,000 airline miles.

I never liked DirecTV at all when I had it. Just got Dish installed, and I like it so much more than Direct. Happy I made the switch...Dish has a better interface, works faster, looks better, etc.

I've had both, problem is most haven't so they vote for the one they have.

I prefer Dish b/c:
1. good customer service
2. Better Priced
3. It seems Direct TV is always in a dispute with a certain station while Dish just adds them to their line up, seem to be less headache especially with the SEC network coming.

I have Dish and like it. They have the SEC Network so if I were buying now it would be a no brainer. Also I can get NFL Redzone for wayyyy cheaper than I could with DTV. No Sunday Ticket but that is expensive as hell after your first free year. I already get the Saints games on national networks and Redzone is all I really want after that.

Also, they gave me a free ipad2 for signing up so that was cool. And I can transfer shows from my DVR to my iPad and watch anywhere with no wifi connection. I put the first 5 episodes of Fargo on there for a recent trip I took. I can also watch live TV on the iPad with the Dish anywhere app anywhere I have a wifi connection. DTV might have this too but I don't know.

Me and the wife are fixing to get Directv, but the only thing holding us up is I don't want the Genie HR34, I want the HR 44.

Did they get rid of all the HR 34 stocks yet?

Make sure which ever one you pick gets the SEC network.

I'd be very shocked if DirecTV didn't have SEC Network by the beginning of football season.. they are always last minute with their negotiations anyway.
