Whenever I think of Christmas I think of terrorists and executions, gunfire, dead bodies and snorting coke.

It's called that Christmas cheer.

Yey, it’s time for one of the dumbest arguments on the internet!

Batman Returns hasn’t been brought up yet, now that has been fixed.

Not a Christmas movie. A Christmas movie has to have a Christmas theme to the plot. Die Hard does not.

Is It's a Wonderful Life a Christmas movie?

No.

It's a movie about lost dreams and a man trapped in a reality that he never wanted and wants to die.

But then he realizes, his life isn't that bad at all. He'll never get his youth back and his young dreams are gone forever but it's not a reason to commmit to suicide.

And at the end, IT JUST HAPPENS TO BE CHRISTMAS EVE...when he comes to his senses and they sing Christmas Carols.

And Donna Reed is hot. So he's got that going for him, which is nice.

Miracle on 34th Street
A Christmas Story
Grinch
Scrooged
A Christmas Carol

Are Christmas movies.

Watching and note that the newscaster mentions that it is is Christmas Eve.

You're making the wrong argument there. Everyone already knows when it's taking place. They didn't miss that point at all. The debate is over whether it can be considered thematically a Christmas movie.

SO basically the only Christmas movies are centered around the birth of Jesus.

Got it.

Huh? You may have something but you sure as frick didn't get that something from me. I was just pointing out that the debate isn't over timing but over the nature of the movie itself. I personally consider it a "Christmas movie" simply because the themes of brotherhood and reconciliation of the movie are appropriate to the season. It's not a movie about Christmas to any great degree, but the Christmas timing and setting are still part of the movie.

You're trying to goad me into saying they are about "the Christmas Spirit" and...

So then is It's a Wonderful Life.

But those movies are ALL about Christmas spirit.

It's a Wonderful is about SO MUCH more...it demeans the film to call it a Christmas movie just because of the end.

It's a Wonderful Life is such a great meaningful about a young man's dreams dashed. I actually hate that the finale took place at Christmas...because it had nothing to do with the film. They loved George. It could have taken place on Groundhog Day and people would have still come to bail him out.

Scrooge and a Christmas Carol are also transformations - although Scrooge doesn't want to kill himself...but his transformation is all about the Holiday...he's prompted early on in the film about the Holiday and allowing his employee a day off and he refuses until the so-called Christmas spirit.

George Bailey didn't need Chrimstas to come to his rescue.

BTW, goat scene in It's a Wonderful Life - LINK

Said this weeks ago in another thread. It is a tradition to watch Die Hard when all us children are home for Christmas.

It’s a wonderful life. Christmas movie. Only plays during Christmas holidays.

Die hard. Christmas movie. Only plays during Christmas holidays.

Even the networks know it is a Christmas movie.

Then rename the movie "John McClane Saves Christmas" because that's what he did for many employees of Nakatomi Corporation.

Yippee-ki-yay, motherfricker. Not directed at any poster. Just getting into the holiday spirit.
