A number of people argue it happens during the Christmas season but not at Christmas, so not a Christmas movie.

Watching and note that the newscaster mentions that it is is Christmas Eve.

So kiss that talking point goodbye.

Wrong.

The focus of the movie is a Christmas party.

Someone dresses up as Santa Clause.

Christmas movie.

You know, even before the internet became popular I always wanted to watch Die Hard at Christmas. When I met my wife, one of our first dates was staying in and watching Christmas movies. We watched Home alone and then I pulled out Die Hard. She asked why. “It’s a Christmas movie,” I said. This was in 1998, long before there was an argument online about this.

It is a Christmas movie. frick anyone who says otherwise.

John McClane is a real American. Real American's celebrate Christmas and greet everyone by saying Merry Christmas. Thus, Die Hard is a Christmas movie.

Not a Christmas movie. A Christmas movie has to have a Christmas theme to the plot. Die Hard does not.

It's pretty obvious, but people like to play contrarian and be irritating.

Yep. It’s a heist movie that happens to occur around Christmas time. Could the movie easily be made if it wasn’t Christmas time? Yes. Christmas isn’t the only time people can have a company party

What's Christmassy about Die Hard?

Was Hans Gruber eating Stollen?

Was he calling John McClain, Krampus?

Was he drinking mulled wine and decorating a tree with ornaments as he tried to steal millions of dollars?

Did Santa stop the heist with his sleigh landing on the roof?

Did Santa then make children glad by giving them all the stolen money?

Did the hostages then start singing Carols?
