Just goes to show that the Empire was actually the good guys in these movies. The Empire did nothing wrong. They brought stability and order to the galaxy. The terrorist rebels brought lasting civil war and death.
I know you are being sarcastic but there is a lot of truth to that. Many in the galaxy thought this, even Luke wanted to join the Academy. It wasn't until people really saw for themselves firsthand the evil that was leading the Empire. Heck, many good people believed the Princess was a terrorist, and although terrible as it was, destroying Alderan was necessary to stop the terrorists and save lives in the end.
The book Lost Stars really brings out the Empire as viewed through a different lens.

I'd wager they built the Death Star using more droids than people. With advanced animatronics like C3-P0 why should any uber rich entity employ more humans than needed?
Unions.

The empire was really good at training rebel starfighters. Every one in the beginning except Luke went through them. Even Han Solo, who washed out to save Chewbacca.
Luke also in the scenes around the 'can I go to the academy?" expressed a desire to fight the Empire.
Remember Owen was keeping him out of sight. If Luke signed up for Academy, that's game. Vader or Palpatine would swoop in.
But wait, Luke went by Skywalker. Isn't that a red flag?
In the middle of a desert, on a planet on the outer rim, raised by an uncle his father had no relationship with. That Vader had no fricking want to go back to. And obi-wan knew all that. fricking 400D chessmaster.
