This is the M/TV board, so not sure how deep you want to go down this rabbit hole.
That said, I've never had this approach and never lacked for partners. If I had tried this with my wife, I can assure you we would have never dated, much less gotten married. That had nothing to do with the #MeToo movement either; I'm over 40 and she just turned 40 this year.
I don't feel sorry for people because things changed. Things do change. Humor changes. Styles change. Technology changes. I work in an industry that if you don't adapt to change you become obsolete very quickly.
If people want a "this works all the time" approach, that's just being lazy.

2 things that just came to mind.
I'm 59, so pretty much your age. The big thing that is different now is the number of girls/women who are doing it much sooner in a relationship, possibly on the first date, possible in a week or 2. When we were in HS and when Rocky was made, most girls were only doing it with their long time boyfriend. Yeah, there were a few with a reputation for being "easy," but they were mostly the minority. Now, there's no such thing as "easy." So the date rate, no means no thing really means, "No means no to YOU!" Because they'd quite often be dtf with someone else.
2nd thing is that because of what I just wrote, the subtlety is gone. Much of this younger #metoo generation has no clue about that game that was played on Rocky or in Baby It's Cold Outside. It was a game between the 2 and often ended consensually. There was plenty of real #metoo stuff going on then that these don't really qualify IMHO.

Well if you watch the scene again, the dialogue and Rocky's gentleness saves it from being creepy by him putting both arms against the wall preventing her from moving.
He says, "I'm gonna kiss you" after he takes off her glasses and hat "but you don't have to kiss me if you don't want to."
And then he just pecks her on the cheek.
And then she kisses him on the lips.
