From across the board, I feel like we have a thing. You and me, man. You're my new stepdad. You're unbelievable!

Everyone was shite in the book.
We're introduced to Brody looking at beach bunnies and feeling guilty about it when he's married.
Quint's been covered.
Ellen fricks Hooper after she finds out he's the younger brother of an old flame.
Brody does choke out Hooper when they are on the boat. So there's that.

I always felt the shark was the hero of the book...

The way it's written, Hooper grits his teeth and rams her pretty good, in such a way that is intended to evoke shark-like images. Benchley is not a great writer and this is my best example of a movie being much better than the book on which it's based. He did make a fortune on this one, though, and had good Hollywood movie deals with this, The Deep and the completely awesome The Island, with Michael Caine.

It proves that you wealthy college boys don't have the education enough to admit when you're wrong

Front, bow. Back, stern. If ya don't get it right, squirt, I throw your arse out the little round window on the side.

the popular question is why did quint smash the radio, but how come no one has ever wondered why the hell he had a baseball bat on the boat to begin with?
Posted on 5/8/18 at 10:26 pm to Uncle Gunnysack
Probably for clubbin' unruly fish floppin' around the boat.

that's exactly what it's for.

Your assessment of the book is very much in agreement with mine. WORSHIPPED Jaws as a kid. When my parents let my siblings and I pick out videos on Friday night at the store, I got Jaws. Every time. So they got me the boxset of all four movies in 91 when I was nine. I read the book a few years later...once. That was enough for me.
White Shark wasn't that good either.
