Hadn't seen anything about this one, apparently it's up on Hulu as of today. Seems to have a similar vibe to Ex Machina, another Garland project

It's only on Hulu? I figured it would have aired on FX as well.

Is it a weekly release on Hulu?

I’m sure it will also come out on FX, but I didn’t see a premiere date. First two episodes are out, I think it’s weekly after that point, but I’m not exactly sure. I haven’t watched any of it yet

First episode is weird, but definitely got my interest. Looks like it's going to be one of those shows that requires multiple views.

ETA: Also after watching episode one, it has a heavy Ex Machina vibe

Apparently you can only see it on Hulu. I really hate all these streaming services that are out now. Plus, this whole FX, Hulu and FX on Hulu shite is confusing.

I agree. If it takes five minutes to figure it out, that's five minutes too long.

Watching Ep 1 currently. Definitely seems to be more of a slow burn.

Was really looking forward to this and was hoping it would be on FX weekly. Hulu is the worst streaming service so guess I won't be watching.

Watched the first episode last night and absolutely loved it. Good call on the Ex Machina feel, it's definitely influenced by that film. Can't wait to see the second one today.

I have Hulu Live. I could already stream all of FX's shows and they're advertising it on Hulu Live like its something new. Thanks for the reminder Hulu.

The second episode got me pretty hooked. It reveals some of the really wild stuff Devs has going. I'm excited for the 3rd episode.

You talking about Dave? This is the wrong thread, but understandable

I'm having a hard time getting into it. The tech is just ridiculous (and impossible), and their code of ethics around it doesn't line up with their code of ethics outside of Devs.

Is that any different from any other sci-fi movie/tv show? Altered Carbon, 2001 a space odyssey, minority report, etc. Also how do we know that it’s impossible? What if they are living in a simulation? Wouldn’t that have an inherent code underlying something like that?

One could say the same thing about any major corporation, or political regime. How did Wells Fargo’s code of ethics pan out in real world practice?

Okay, you got me there. I would accept this answer. (if they knowingly found a way to query the simulation.)

Otherwise, there's no reason for video to be that grainy if you've mapped out every particle already. It's also virtually impossible to map every particle that way without having a computer the size of the solar system, or bigger.

Sure, but the very thing they are refraining from doing inside of Devs would enable them to fix almost all new/future problems outside of Devs.

Altered Carbon

Nothing in Altered Carbon has the laws of physics preventing it from happening. The only thing about AC that trips me up is the concept that you can "move" consciousness in to a disc. For most, that's more of a philosophical question and not a big hangup.

2001 a space odyssey

Outta control general AI is not only possible, but is inevitable.

minority report

That's supernatural stuff. Movies where people have supernatural powers get a pass because they're not pretending to be anything else, or they're being campy.

There's an art to knowing when you suspend disbelief on this stuff. Wouldn't you be turned off if all of a sudden James Bond froze time with his mind to escape a situation? It wouldn't mean that you dislike movies where they frick with time.

Agreed. I've been streaming Dave on FX's website, but I can't stream this there.
