Death of a Pastor's Wife (Netflix)

This 3-part docuseries came out yesterday, Aug 26th. (About 2.5-3 hours)
Pretty wild story and very well done in comparison to a lot of Netflix documentaries. This was national news a couple years ago. There was also a TD thread on this wild story back in 2024. Read the thread at your own risk prior to watching as it might give away some details presented in the docuseries (for those that want to go in blind).

This pastor is an absolutely terrible human being. For those that have a relationship with God and go to Church each weekend, this docuseries will probably disgust you. It's these types of people who give religion a bad name.
There are multiple videos of the pastor giving sermons describing how a wife is supposed to be subservient to their husband. Explaining how a man has lust and if a wife does not fulfill the needs of the husband, the devil will tempt them. Pretty much explaining it's the wife's duty to keep a husband from sinning. This pastor basically threatened his wife with eternal damnation for not having sex with him 4-5 times a day. So many different forms of abuse over the course of several years until she broke.
There were several reports to the Church counsel about the pastor's wrongdoing, but they were afraid to bite the hand that feeds them as he was the center of the Church.
For those who know the story or have seen the docuseries, what are your thoughts?

Wife and I warched this one last night. Obviously the guy is a weirdo but she’s no angel either. If you’ve ever dated a mental/bi polar type…they’ll make you crazy the longer you’re with them.
We didn’t buy into the story and both think the girl committed suicide. That doesn’t mean the pastor was a saint. He had his demons as well and was your typical borderline cult leader.
The fact they didn’t go into any detail or evidence about the crippled guy drowning makes me think that was a convenient coincidence and nothing more.
It was obvious they jumped around a lot so it was hard to put some of the timelines together.

I watched it with my fiance yesterday. "Pastor" is piece of shite and a fig. Man when he was playing the piano and his best friend was singing in the last episode? What in the frick

) It's another part of the docuseries that they didn't really dive into very much. The story was mainly about the relationship of the 2 main characters while going about their lives as the leaders of a big church. Very weird.

You can’t underestimate the ability of a bi polar person to manipulate and control a situation. Again, the pastor was a problem, but in her mind she committed suicide with the purpose of trapping him. These people have no limits.

I personally think her mental issues were stemmed from her trauma. She was groomed from this much older psychopath from the age of 13.
Side note; I also think if she had any form of a father figure whatsoever in her life, this would have all been avoided. She was surrounded by family/friends who were females and had a beta brother. Ole crazy pastor also made sure she didn't have male influences once they got married.

Odds are it's suicide but the evidence on the scene is a bit questionable. Not enough into that.

That’s because the 3 hours were consumed on the pastor being a terrible person (which he was) and the girl being completely innocent to anything (which she wasn’t). Sad story, but this was told from the lenses of her side.
Overall, I think the doc would’ve been better told as we see more evidence and time goes on with the pastor. Also the crime scene. Nothing was discussed around the details of the crime scene.

1.5 episodes in and I’ve never wanted to pulverize someone like I do this John Paul dude. What an absolute trash human being.
