‘Swamp Thing’ Series in the Works at DC Streaming Service
quote:

A live-action “Swamp Thing” TV series has landed a script-to-series order at DC Universe, the upcoming DC-branded streaming service, Variety has learned.
Based on the DC Comics characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, the one-hour drama series would follow CDC researcher Abby Arcane, who returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. She develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland, only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.
The show is currently slated for a 2019 launch. Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman will serve as writers and executive producers. James Wan and Michael Clear will also executive produce via Wan’s Atomic Monster banner. Rob Hackett of Atomic Monster will serve as co-producer. Atomic Monster will produce in association with Warner Bros. Television.
quote:

Should this project get ordered to series, it would mark the fifth series for DC Universe. Additional programs include “Metropolis”-set in the famous comic book city before the arrival of Superman- and the drama series “Titans,” based on the DC Comics team of the same name. The streaming service will also be home to Warner Bros. Animation’s “Harley Quinn” and “Young Justice: Outsiders.”

Is this because the CW ran out of days of the week to have a DC show on?

Harley Quinn is going to be R-rated animated series. Can’t wait for Young Justice!

I mean I like the CW shows, I keep up with all of them but Supergirl, but one reason I do watch them and keep up with them is they are easily accessible and available. As soon as you start putting barriers up, like additional services needed, I'm out.

My fandom does not go deep for anything to purchase something so niche. I've wanted Shudder for like 2 years now and still can't justify it.

The pilot for Titans is awful. Dick is in his 20s playing a detective in SF.

This. Won't be worth whatever their asking price is.

Star Trek: Discovery is $6 to watch the entire season right now. Less than a movie ticket. Less than buying a season of a comparable show on Amazon. Plus you get the other content that is available for that month.

It’s not the money. It’s people getting offended that every company isn’t jumping on to their current streaming service.

Doom Patrol Live-Action Series Ordered By DC Universe

quote:

Less than two weeks after announcing James Wan’s Swamp Thing, Warner Bros.’ DC Universe digital service has added another live-action series to its rapidly expanding slate: Doom Patrol. Based on the team of super-powered misfits introduced in 1963 by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani, the series will spin out of the events of the live-action Titans, which will feature the Doom Patrol in its fifth episode.

I'm guessing in this PC offended world, there will be no 2019 equivalent to Adrienne Barbeau in the new Swamp Thing.

It'll be direct to streaming so they can have actual porn stars.
