DC failed at building a movie universe yet it did awesome with their latest animated one

I just got done with Justice League Dark Apokolips War, and if this is the last animated movie in their latest set of DCAMU movies (which I'm pretty sure it is and will start a new continuity with their next movie), it's such a fitting end. They did such a great job building this universe starting with Justice League: the Flashpoint Paradox, and going up until this last one.
IMO they actually did the character building perfectly throughout the DCAMU. And yet they totally failed at doing it with their regular movie universe. Granted it's easier to crank out animated movie than regular ones. But they didn't even try to build their movie universe properly.
But if you haven't been watching the DCAMU movies, starting with the Flash Point Paradox and ending with the Apokolips War, you are missing out. Below is a link to all of the movies that you should watch in the DCAMU and the order you should watch them in. If you don't want to read any spoilers, only read the list of the movies. There are spoilers in the body of the page.

DC has always been very good at animation. Their mistakes in cinema were rushing it to catch up to marvel and also employing Zach Snyder.

They should hire the japanimation artists who worked on the ninja scoll and street fighter 1994 animated film to animate.
R rated cartoons that look epic and true to character.

WB would have been better off if they would have refrained from trying to market the Snyderverse as DC's response to the MCU. I would have been happy if they had just let Snyder do his complete story without trying to turn it into something else. If they wanted to use his Wonder Woman, Aquaman, etc for spinoff series, then great, but I would have been very satisfied to just see his vision from start to finish in a trilogy (or 4 movies). Had they come out in the very beginning and said that Snyder would be crafting a story in a very specific time covering one ultimate story arc of the justice league coming together and defending the world against Darkseid without all of the DCEU nonsense, it might have fared better.

A lot of the DCAMU movies that are in this continuity are rated R (including the last one). The animation looks good to me, and I think they do a good job of staying true to the character of the New 52 comics (which is what these movies are based off of.

They have always been good at their animated films, but with this they actually built an extended universe starting with Flashpoint Paradox, which sets/resets the continuity starting with the post credit scene, and ending with Apokolips War. And all of the individual movies come together into this last movie.
It sucks that DC felt the need to rush their regular movie universe to try and catch up to Marvel. Both the DC regular movie and animated movie universes started in the same year, yet the decided to take their time with one and rush the other.

I could see just a limited "Snyderverse" being ok in a vacuum, but I don't know if the masses would've gone for it with the success of Marvel's movie universe. With DC waiting so long to start, they almost had to make their own movie universe.
IMO DC made two big errors with their regular movie universe. They waiting until after Marvel had already fully built their universe. I mean The Avengers was already out before Man of Steel was even released. So now they were almost shoe horned into making their own universe under the huge shadow of the MCU.
And their second error was that they then decided to forgo any individual character building movies outside of Man of Steel, and tried to force their answer to The Avengers without the proper foundation. I think they could've survived their first error if they would've been patient, and properly built the foundation for their new universe. But they didn't.
At least they got it right with their animated universe. Hopefully they continue with their new animated universe.

Superhero content is over, bro.
The good guys in superhero movies are now bad people. Who wants to watch some insufferable egoist run from one battle to another with no discernable connection to the plot over and over again?

The art isn't bad but they absolutely should not use that anime style writing and dialogue.

Yet they are going to spend another 30, and by some reports 50 million dollars, so he can present his shitty Justice League movie. They had seemingly gotten on a role since parti g ways with him, but now...

They have butchered the last few stand alone Batman films. Hush was a disgrace to the source material. Killing Joke was meh.

The Killing Joke was a true stand alone film, and not part of the DCAMU. And I agree that Hush didn’t live up to the source material, but I’m not sure that you could do a Hush story that mirrors are the comics unless you did it in multiple movies. I thought it fit ok with their current universe. In hindsight if they’d have made it a stand alone like The Killing Joke, they wouldn’t have been forced to use the same characters as the DCAMU.
But I’ve loved all of the Batman and son movies that are a part of the DCAMU continuity. I was never a big Damian until these animated movies. Now Damian is my favorite Robin. I still like Grayson in the comics better as an overall character, but I now think Damian is a far more interesting Robin.

Except for Batman I think Marvel's characters translate better to live action movies than DC's. Superman is flat out overpowered and Green Lantern looks silly in live action. With Gal Gadot Wonder Woman works really good though. Cyborg sucks and Martian Manhunter is better in animation. I know a lot of people like Flash but he's boring to me. Aquaman has always sucked even with Jason Mamoa. Green Arrow blows but so does Hawkeye. That main lineup can't compete with the likes of Wolverine, DeadPool, Hulk, Thor, IronMan and definitely not Spider-Man. Marvel characters are just cooler. Maybe the biggest difference is Marvel's "bad guys" are a lot better except for Joker.
