but it's an underrated perforce by Duvall.
I always wished that his character in Four Christmases would have referenced being a stock car pit crew chief, instead of driving a combine for a living

wasn't one partly based on Tim Richmond.
Cole Trickle was partly based on Tim Richmond. The taxi incident actually happened with Richmond.
Rowdy Burns was partly based on Dale Earnhardt. The meeting with NASCAR threatening to park both drivers if they even touch actually happened when Earnhardt and Geoff Bodine were feuding.
Harry Hogg was based almost 100% on crew chief Harry Hyde.

I wouldnt say the movie is underrated, but it's certainly awesome. Maybe my crowd growing up just rated the movie higher than the national audience too.

Harry: “on the phone with the doc?”
Cole: “nah, too busy to talk.”
So many great lines in this movie.

I was 19 when it came out and loved it. Was always hoping they would do a sequel

Kings Island, an amusement park here, had a ride that was you watching a first person race and the seat moved with the car. Really felt ground breaking bad a kid lol
