And wasn't it like Christmas eve?

I'm sure it is. I don't use Netflix though. I buy shite. Got it for $1.89 on Amazon.

It's not that many, but it's close.

that's a tough one
it's hard for me to go back and give an honest reaction to KoK b/c i found out later the conflict was bullshite
i also think that in KoK they tried really hard to edit the movie to make good guys and bad guys, which took away some of the realness from it. in Darkon even the "bad" guy isn't really bad, and the "good" guys come off as throwing a temper tantrum
KoK had more iconic scenes though.

I own that t-shirt.
I do think the conflict in KoK was real, just that it was overblown in that the true record was held by someone else. But I do think the whole jealousy/feud/whatever between the Twin Galaxies figs/Billy Mitchell minions and Steve Weibe was real.

I used to know someone that LARP'd. I never watched or participated in LARPs, but it seems like if you can cast aside the social stigma it could be fun. It just seems so damn weird.

i think they made billy mitchell come off a lot worse than he really is

Good enough answer, I'll watch Darkon tonight. KoK was way too funny.

I have some friends that are pretty nerdy. Like they play RPG's like all weekend and eat fast food everyday.
And they think LARPers are huge geeks
I can't wait to see this

I loved King of Kong. I'd rank it above this one, but its still pretty entertaining. But alot of these guys are depressing. Almost all of them hate their jobs and tell you that their real life job is the true role playing and that the larping is who they truly are.

i won't lie i probably would have turned into something similar to a LARPer had i not purposefully redirected my social being about age 11 or 12. me and my bff at the time were even starting to do RPG board games

well one did make a good point: we do all pretend to be certain roles or social niceties for most of our lives
one time i was pissed off at a wedding and i went on like a 5 minute tirade on "everyone being in their fricking costumes" and the jokes have kind of stuck with me for every wedding since then
it is true, though

social structures developing within the game are complained about,

Checking this out this evening. Looks really interesting.

i think this part of Darkon makes me prefer it to KoK, now that i think about it
KoK had your classic american "good, normal every man goes up against the insular bad guy group who will cheat to win" narrative, and this one just rang out more for me.

Probably so. But I'd bet money that he's definitely a douche...just maybe not quite as much of one as he was portrayed. But that falls into the whole "there has to be a villain and protagonist" editing that you mentioned earlier.

SFP, you live for this kind of shite. It's like a further self-perpetuating self-fulfilling prophecy.
