Revolutionary Road - Wouldn't wish this movie on anyone even though the acting with DiCaprio and Winslet was fan-freaking-tastic.

Way too many people trying to /thread up in here.

Anyway, my favorite movie is pretty damn grim.
Paths of Glory. Talk about some raw humanity.

Someone mentioned David Lynch's best films. This is probably true. I haven't seen as many of his movies as I would like, but I would have to put Blue Velvet up there as pretty dark and disturbing.

Winter's Bone is the first one that comes to mind. Everybody had it bad in that movie.

This was one heck of a movie. I got turned onto it by watching some Halloween special.

I couldn't remember the name, thank you for that.

I'm surprised I'm the only one who has said this one. Actually, relieved, cause it is one disturbing film (FAR more than most of those that have been named so far)

I've never seen a movie like it.

You can watch it and really feel like it is a documentary crew following a real serial killer around. I know it is based on a real guy and all, but the film quality, the language, everything is spectacularly evil.

How are we 4 pages into a thread about the bleakest movies and I'm the first to mention:

Come and See
Layla Forever

3 1/2 pages worth of people either didn't see them or think something else is darker/bleaker?

Have you guys seen The Girl Next Door (not that terrible comedy film)? It's right up there with Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.

It's loosely based on the torture and murder of Sylvia Likens, and that was some seriously fricked up shite.

I have a theory about this. There are only so many of these types of movies the human mind actually care to endure. I have no desire to see a movie in the thought realm of Revolutionary Road ever again.

It's not that we can't. It's just plain not worth being bummed out for days because some director and actors did their job way to well.

That's just my type of movie kryptonite though. I know people who get molested have a very difficult time watching legitimate rape scenes, etc.
