Dam, for the first time, I see
WTF? Watching Mad Max-Fury Road and this is the first time I saw that it is more of a computer generated movie then anything.

Guess it takes a good bottle of wine for these old eyes.

Dam near close.

Guess it's more on the old eyes. But really, after watching it, I see that it is not much better then most video games. I had watched this movie before and two and two didn't connect. I know a lot are done with computes, but as a first, after seeing this movie, it sucks as far as computer movies. I was able to pick out the jumps in between.

What's funny is that Fury Road has some of the best practical effects in a movie in a long time. The CGI is really minimal compared to most action movies.

Loved the movie and the special effects. I even bought the 3D version on dvd. I love it on my 3D tv at home. The original Road Warrior movie was the GOAT but this remake was pretty damn good.

Fish, you're a gem. But Mad Max Fury Road is lauded as one of the great contemporary films for its actual production design and stunt scenes. Watch the extra features next time. Sure, there is CGI in some respects, but the stunt productions were incredibly complex.

Exactly.

Compared to most modern blockbusters, Fury Road had minimal CGI, which is an amazing achievement considering how other-worldy beautiful it was visually.

OP needs a new eye exam.

You must not have watched the Star Wars prequel movies. The overuse of CGI was a big part of the problem with those movies.

You know they blew a lot of that stuff up and filmed it in real time right? It was incredibly awesome.

Steven Soderbergh loses his mind over seeing Fury Road.

quote:

I just watched Mad Max: Fury Road again last week, and I tell you I couldn't direct 30 seconds of that. I'd put a gun in my mouth. I don't understand how [George Miller] does that, I really don't, and it's my job to understand it. I don't understand two things: I don't understand how they're not still shooting that film and I don't understand how hundreds of people aren't dead.

I could almost see that's kind of possible until the polecat sequence, and then I give up. We are talking about the ability in three dimensions to break a sequence into a series of shots in which no matter how fast you're cutting, you know where you are geographically. And each one is a real shot where a lot of things had to go right. I'm going to keep trying; I'm not going to keep trying in the sense that I'm going to volunteer to direct the next Mad Max movie. I'm going to keep trying in the sense that when I have sequences that demand a certain level of sophistication in terms of their visual staging, I'm going to try and watch the people who do it really well and see if I can climb inside their heads enough to think like that.

But he's off the chart. I guarantee that the handful of people who are even in range of that, when they saw Fury Road, had blood squirting out of their eyes. The thing with George Miller, it's not just that, he does everything really well. The scripts are great, the performances are great, the ideas are great. He's exceptional. I met him once for about 30 seconds at the Directors Guild Awards in Los Angeles the year of Fury Road. But you don't want to say that stuff to somebody's face; it's embarrassing.

I love that Soderbergh freak out so much. It's so awesome the way he gushes about Miller.
