Hahaha, yeah that scene is awful. But his kid in Cry Macho is just about on that level. I give this kid a slight edge as being better since he spoke in English and Spanish, but he was pretty awful.

He’s known for getting scene done in 2 or 3 takes with the barest of coverage.
he knows what he wants and directs his actors on what to do. He doesnt give a shite if the actors want to do more takes to do it a different way. Actors have gotten way to comfortable trying to put their mark on the the movie as a whole when they are hired to act, not to direct.

I usually like Eastwood movies including his curmudgeon movies but this one felt like a movie made by a nonagenarian for nonagenarians. It seemed purposely flat as if to prevent MIs in the audience.

In the last 7-8 years he is 4 for 6 following a short string of crap in the early 2010s so I won't count him out, given the variety of movies he makes that is a pretty good score.

I felt the ending was lacking but enjoyed it anyway because it is Clint Eastwood.

The Gran Torino kid wasn't all that bad, because some of the oriental kids I went to school with acted a lot like that dude.

This movie was not good at all. I had to watch Unforgiven just to cleanse the palette of old Clint. It would have been better suited to be a short of some sort.

Gran Torino reminded me firsthand of the way things were getting when my grandparents still lived in their original neighborhood in the 1980s. It was like Mayberry in the 40s,50s and 60s, but was going to hell when I used to visit as a kid. Gran Torino was a great movie that illustrated this sad commentary which was playing out in inner city America for years.

Watched this recently and enjoyed it. I didn't have high expectations and wasn't disappointed but it was definitely worth watching. I particularly like Marta (the GILF cafe owner) and her interaction with Mike and how that turned out.
