Have y'all never heard Jerry in long interviews? He's always been a really good story teller. It's part of why Dallas media is always up his arse for comments. He loves to talk and he's good at it. The entire bit for the show sounds it could have come straight out of an interview on The Ticket here in Dallas.

He was good, we watched it last night. It didn't hurt that he was telling his story and it is likely emotional to tell it.
