Soo…I was just reminded of something pretty important
John Kreese’ fiancé never died in the show
It was a lie he was told in Nam to keep him focused on killing
So…that opens up a can of worms
Tory may ACTUALLY be his grand daughter and her sick mother may be Kreese’ daughter
Completely ridiculous over the top fan faction incoming (perfect for Cobra Kai’s small world rules
):
Kreese’ fiancé was pregnant when Kreese thought she died. She, of course, never died and lived the rest of her life thinking he died or abandoned her after she was pregnant.
She has a girl named Julie who gets trained by Myagi. Afterwards, Julie hears that her biological dad may still be alive and goes overseas looking for him for a while. In the process, she falls in love and has a kid, returns to the states because she is sick and is bedridden (like a Million Dollar Baby call back) being taken care of her daughter, never having the chance to meet her biological father.
This would be the ultimate “sudden jolt” Kreese would need for redemption.
SUPER cheesy small world over the top…which is perfect for Cobra Kai

First off I love that idea, and it’s actually been talked about in the S3 thread once the Kreese flashbacks started.
But the timeline doesn’t exactly work with Kreese leaving for Vietnam even if it was late in the war in the early 70s. Julie would have been in her 20s when the movie came out in 94.
It could have been set earlier but it would have had to be almost at the same time he was working with Daniel, which I’m not sure if it would work continuity wise.
Didn’t she also say that her father (or maybe grandfather) taught her karate? I haven’t seen it since it came out so don’t remember the details but I thought Miyagi had a connection to her family and she already knew karate when they met, he just taught her some new things.
I do remember that her parents died, but I guess that could have been a step dad or her mom just didn’t tell her it wasn’t her real father.
It would take some Crane Kick style maneuvering to pull it off but I’d probably roll with it
I do think that’s the only thing that could really justify a true redemption by Kreese, not just his feelings for Johnny.

Did they say in “the next karate kid” that it was in 1994? It could have been set in 1990 story wise
If so, Kreese could have gone in 1971 making Julie 18 when she met Myagi.
She finds out she was adopted and leaves in 1991 in search of her biological dad and bids Myagi farewell. During this time, Daniel would have been off to college and not known her.
Problem solved
In any case, Julie or not, I’m all in on Tory being his granddaughter now

This is correct. Don't ask me why, but I watched it the other day. I think its still on Netflix. Her Grandfather and Myagi served together. Her mother and father were killed in a car accident.
I also don't like the idea that she is Tory's mother. But I'm afraid the crumbs are leading to this. If this is the case, then the crumbs also lead to a connection to Kreese.

Yeah - the biggest hint were Tory pretending to be Kreese’ granddaughter just to see him was the icing on the cake for me.

So, not pretending?

Exactly
They’ve had a really close relationship the entire series and, I think, he really cares for her like he did Johnny
I’m hoping Tory plays a HUGE rule in season 6

I feel like Myagi would have told Daniel about Julie. Or told Julie about Daniel. Especially if they now lived in the same city. She would have visited Myagi before getting ill..if she is lucid enough to hold a conversation with, she would have definitely told her mom that she is a karate champion, in turn if her mom is Julie,..she would have mentioned the name Myagi and Larusso to tori..imo

After watching finale I really think that may be the end of cobra Kai
It almost felt like the end of a die hard movie
I expect some sort of spin off
They wrapped up a lot of storylines

I think she will.
The show has done a great job making her and Robby likable after a terrible start.
I think they made a concerted effort to do that based on where they want to end up. They need the audience to like them for the payoff to land.

I'm an idiot when trying to follow movies/TV Shows so I'm sure I missed something but what exactly did Silver get arrested for? Far as I could tell the only thing they had on him was bribing a karate official, is that really an offense that is going to require a jail sentence?

Stingray retracted his statement and said Silver was the one who beat him almost to death.
Which means Kreese was going to get out anyway and he was completely innocent...I am assuming with "time served" for the assaults that occurred along the way.
That's what people aren't considering - Kreese was in jail for a WHILE for a crime he didn't commit - so "time served" might be the "greasy italian lawyer" way out

Silver's lawyers are about to rip stingray apart.
He took gifts and money, and is now blackmailing Mr. Silver. He lied about John Kreese, and now he is lying about Mr. Silver. Etc.

Just starting S5.
Damn seems like the quality of everything has gone up. E1 was great all around. I don’t think CK is still in the guilty pleasure/fun but cheesy category.
Chozen is adding much more to the show than I expected.
ETA: E2 Hot Damn. Chozen is perfect.

E5. Damn this show has really evolved. Everyone’s acting has improved and the writing as well. Great show, better than ever.

Just finished the season last night and I loved it. I think this is better than the last couple if my memory serves. S1 is obviously a nostalgia filled masterpiece. Chozen was beyond awesome, he made this season as great as it was. Johnny still carrying the show though.

Damn great season.
Wish it were 2p episodes. Don't want to wait a year for more.
