the Paramount Plus rebranding of CBS All Access will offer content from a variety of ViacomCBS' brands. Its TV channels include MTV, BET, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and CBS, and it also owns the Paramount Pictures movie studio. Live news and sports, as well as on-demand films and TV shows, will be available.

Is this the final stage of CBS and Paramount’s merger back into the same company?
Other than classic Trek, TNG, and DS9, I think I like Paramount’s movie library more than CBS’s TV library.

That's clearly a sign of runaway success....

I signed up for a free trial yesterday. Definitely not keeping it. Only streaming service I've seen that has incomplete seasons of tv shows. Definitely not for me.

They've done a piss poor job of branding/marketing this; I just assumed Paramount+ was another new, completely unnecessary streaming service I wouldn't sign up for. Just like CBS All-Access.
I've had Netflix for 10 years, plan on keeping it.
I've had Disney+ for a year for my kid, plan on keeping it.
Anything else will be only for a month or two, maybe once a year. They cannot repackage network TV or shitty basic cable reality programming and sell it as a streaming service - no one has watched that crap for 15 years, why would they watch it now at an additional cost?

That's not what it is, which is why they're rebranding. People see "CBS" and assume that it's just current or recent CBS programming, which it's not. The Paramount movie library is nothing to sneeze at. You're talking about series like The Godfather and Indiana Jones. And people see Comedy Central and think of the current Daily Show. It's also Chappelle's Show and other series from when the network was good.

are they going to open up the MTV vault that those idiots make no use of at all?

All the advertising I've seen for Paramount+ focuses on letting you watch Bar Rescue and Yellowstone. Discovery+ is obviously the worst offender of this by far.
It's easier than ever to watch any one single movie, renting or buying via Amazon and other services, plus the bigger and more popular titles will obviously be owned on Blu-Ray or DVD by more people.
I feel pretty secure that the reason people will continue subscribing to services is "Who do I trust to make/release content that I want to watch most frequently?" and that question will be answered, as it has been for almost 20 years now, by Netflix, HBO, and Disney.

I haven't seen much advertising for it, other than the mountaintop ads featuring characters from Star Trek, Nickelodeon, CBS, Comedy Central, etc. They should probably promote the film library more.

I don't think that Discovery+ or Paramount+ is expecting to overtake Netflix and HBO, unless they focus on putting the content mainly on streaming instead of cable/broadcast as well. Both new services will have a ton of new content, but a lot of it will be available on 2nd tier cable.

And when no one subscribes, Paramount will sell its movie library to Netflix, Disney, or Warner and then people will be able to watch it without having to shell out for yet another 1/2 a$$ product.

They already lease their films to other platforms. You can watch The Godfather or Raiders of the Lost Ark on CBS All Access, or you can watch them on Amazon Prime. It's not a case where all of their eggs are in one basket and if Paramount+ fails they suddenly have to sell off their film library.

This would be a reason to get it for me. I already watch Beavis and Butthead and Daria on Pluto TV, also owned by Viacom. They show Chappelle's Show on there uncensored too. There's a bunch of old MTV shows I would watch, mainly all the old seasons of Real World and The Challenge but there's plenty of great animation not currently on PlutoTV I want to watch. The Indiana Jones movies are on the Paramount channel all the time so having them on the app isn't a huge selling point.

This better not frick with champions league again, requiring us to register for yet another provider/app for the third time in about a year. Smh.

I wouldn't buy a streaming service just for it, but I'd watch all of Liquid Television from start to finish.

Hopefully still get free subscription with 247sports membership, along with live CBS streaming.

You can't fool a fool twice CBS.

Thanks for the heads up! I've had access to the CBS All Access since they bought 247Sports from Shannon Terry. 247Sports sent subscribers a link and instructions on setting it up. I went to it to set it up, but haven't been back. Will go do the Paramount thing and check it out!
