Both Space Ghost and Thundarr the Barbarian would be absolute gold if you translated them to live-action and put them on Netflix or Prime.
And don't make them campy, or otherwise attempt to "kiddy them up". The original shows didn't have laughs, they were action/adventure SF fantasy shows that, at the time, could do a lot more with animation than you saw with live-action shows.
Stuff like this wouldn't float for a "children's show" nowadays ...

I don’t like purposely changing the characters to support any agenda. If the person is the best for the job, then I think they should get it. But if it’s to drive home a message, I disagree. I was watching a cartoon called 3 Below on Netflix and two little girls said they had never been kissed so they kissed each other. I don’t like when they try to drive home a message and go against social norms. Idris Elba would probably make a great 007. Women like him and he is a very smooth operator. But don’t use him to say “Look what we have done”.
Denzel Washington received an Oscar for Training Day and Holly Berry for Monsters Ball. Frankly, I never don’t think Berry was that good in the movie. Denzel should have had 5 Oscars. Training Day wasn’t his best acting job at all. My point is that we need to be somewhere in the middle. The pendulum has swung to far one direction, it needs to be merit based. Not agenda base.

Absolutely. Maybe Scott Eastwood as Boomhauer

Not sure why Steven Root wouldn't be Bill.

Yeah on second thought, we can do better.

Good call. Then Brad Pitt could make an appearance as Patch.

Touche'
But then someone else would have to play Buck. Or hell I guess Steven could just play multiple characters

I would love to see if Captain Planet would be as bad an adaptation as I hope it would be. Like a comically awful movie. Would pay to watch lol.
Berserk has massive appeal to be great but maybe more so in a live action series
I also would be curious to see what some live adaptations of Studio Ghibli would look like. Howls Moving Castle, Spirited Away, and Princess Mononoke would have a lot of promise

All day times this eleventy billion. But it ain’t going to be cheap.
Just the special effects budget would have to be monstrous between building practical mockups of the Veritech fighters and the sets for the SDF-1, to the CGI of the flight scenes, Regult battle pods, destroids and the exterior shots of the SDF-1.
It has the be cast correctly. The characters of Hikaru/Rick, Misa/Lisa, Roy and the like has to be spot on.
It CAN be done. Look at the 2010 release of Space Battleship Yamato (StarBlazers). It’s live action, and done very well (my only gripe is with the portrayal of the Gamalons). Just the wave motion gun sequence alone is ridiculously awesome.

Seems like I remember there already being a live action Berserk in Japan. They actually have a lot of live action anime adaptations. Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, Death Note, and JoJo all have live action Japanese movies.

Glad to find another Robotech fan!
And yes I always felt that costs is what is keeping it from getting made but again Star Wars was made.
And I will check out Yamato..never heard of this

I think a live action Exo Squad would be pretty awesome, my brother and I used to get up every morning at like 6am just to watch it (and record it on vhs) before school.

My favorite as a kid was The Herculoids. Would make a great si-fi/prehistoric film. So much fun.

Can't think of anything Western.
My preferred option for a live action anime would be something like Yu Yu Hakusho: very defined story arcs, mostly grounded in the real world but with supernatural elements, able to build an entire movie around something besides martial arts fights.
Hollywood has tried a couple times to crack the "supernatural detective" nut to no success.
If we could get Beetlejuice meets X-Files meets Big Trouble in Little China...it would be perfect.
