You don't have to go all the way back to Tom and Jerry, the Road Runner and Foghorn Leghorn. Shows like Futurama, The Simpsons, Spongebob, early Family Guy were all legit.

Regular Show, Bob's Burgers, and a bunch of others are still awesome.

I like the old cartoons as well for nostalgia but they are simple. Everyone had the same premise. They don't hold a flame to Rick and Morty or some of the newer cartoons. Much more imaginative story lines. Plus much more funnier. Old cartoons we're basically slap stick comedy.

Paw Patrol is cute. It's just not as entertaining for adults.

Teen Titans Go! and The Amazing Adventures of Gumball are two of the funniest cartoons I have ever watched that are made for children.
Yeah those are great. I also don't mind when my kids watch Clarence, Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls, or Steven Universe.
I also though Regular Show was fantastic.

I watch a lot of cartoons now because of my kids and I gotta say... this is a terrific era for cartoons. I mean, whatever is your kind of cartoon, there's probably a quality offering for you. now, I hate Paw Patrol with every fiber of my being, as its clearly a commercial designed to sell their crappy toys, but Gravity Falls and Phineas & Ferb are top notch. Blaze is surprisingly good and Bubble Guppies is perfect for the age level. My kids have started to experiment with weirder cartoons like We Bare Bears and Fish Hooks and branching into action like the excellent Skylanders Academy, Teen Titans Go!, PJ Masks and all of the Marvel shows.
But it's also a golden age of remakes. The new versions of Voltron, TMNT, Pound Puppies, and My Little Pony are flat out better than what I had growing up. There's even a revival of Mickey Mouse shorts on the Disney app which are fantastic. This doesn't even get into the realm of adult cartoons. This is a great era for cartoons.
