JLH's character dated an idiot. Shannon's was all in for freaky town with random nerds. Point for Shannon. Plus JLH's character just seems like it be a one way train to annoying bitch town.

My favorite parts of NATM was the people in the background. For example:
"That's going to stain" came from some random person at the party and you can barely hear it.
That's Gonna Stain!!!!
Another example:
Do it for Marty's Torso
This whole scene is good....You can't just start a slow clap at any moment

Another good one is when Ricky (or whatever the Duckie knock off is named) is chasing Jake after prom to get Janie at the airport, he almost gets hit by a car and someone yells out "You'll never be more than a friend!"
Or at the airport, Janie's departure flight is listed as "Art School in Paris"
The little things like that killed me in NATM

I love both of these movies. In fact, I started a thread a couple of years ago stating that it was the 90's epic teen movie. Clueless and CHW personify the 90's.
However, I don't think it is on the same level of comedy that American Pie is on. It's a great movie, but it is really funnier because of what a great job Not Another Teen Movie did satiring it.
American Pie is just so much funnier. But I still love Can't Hardly Wait.

Who broke out from Can't hardly wait? There isn't one major star from that movie.. that is the carrer apex for pretty much everybody in that movie..

You could remake PCU today, not change any of the dialogue, and it would still be a good reflection of campus PC culture.
Also, American Pie has the better staying power of the 2 movies, but probably because it was more of a coming of age piece than reflection of 90's culture. Can't honestly remember which one I thought was "better" at the time though.
NATM might be the only spoof piece that I can rewatch multiple times that doesn't involve ZAZ/Leslie Nielsen.

can't really compare dazed and confused to AP and CHW because D&C is set in the 70s. I agree that CHW is a better movie than AP and probably more representative of the teenage experience in the 90s. AP is is more of a raunchy comedy.

That is a pretty weak list, especially when JLH and Seth Green were already sort of big names. Like I said, their careers pretty much went down after that point. It's not like the Outsiders, where you are amazed at how many people became huge stars later on..
