manhunter written and directed by micheal mann from 1986 one of my favorite movies is 1981's "theif" mann's directorial debut so i thought what the heck. it was based on the book "red dragon" the original hannibal lecktor story. while it had some actors in it that would go on to have careers in movies brian cox, joan allen and stephan lang. it's problem was it had too many actors in it who would go on to have television careers or no careers at all. william petersen was the lead he would go on to do 200 episodes of one of the CSI's your team or school logo here. he was awful they say there are no small parts just small actors that's true. this was a small actor in a big part. they went on to remake this movie in 2001 as "red dragon" tagging it as the "silence of the lambs" prequel. it's got that classic mid 80's synthpop music and everybody smokes all the time even in elevators. it's fee with ads on amazon.

The last scene when In A Gadda Da Vida is playing when Dollarhyde is killed is fantastic. Also, the scene where Freddy Lounds is rolled down the parking ramp was so good, it was copied exactly for the movie, The Red Dragon.

To live and die in LA and Gun Shy are two good movies featuring William Petersen
