Bumblebee is what all of the Transformers live action movies should have been

They need to reboot the entire franchise using the people that made this movie.

Yes, parts of it are very ‘ET’ but that adds to the 80’s vibe for those that notice. A non-Transformers fan can enjoy this one.

Plus the callbacks to the TF Movie in ‘86.

Best live action TF film.

It was great but a big disappointment at the box office. I think it will be a good while before we see another Transformers movie.

Big disappointment? Not really. Less than they hoped for? Sure. This one cost less than half of what the others did and they didn’t spend nearly the money marketing it. Didn’t help that it was released opposite a top 20 all time grossing movie.

Hasbro announced literally this morning that they liked Bumblebee so well that it is going to officially act as a series reboot and the sequel was greenlit.

I hope they keep Travis Knight around for the sequels. I wanted him to take GOTG 3, but they can give that to the Ragnarok director and not lose to anything.

Cena was low-key the best part of the movie. “They literally call themselves Decepticons” had me cracking up.

I think a lot of y’all remember that 86 movie with some rose colored glasses. That movie was not good.

It was a clear marketing tool to get you to buy more toys.

It had large sections that were essentially filler that even reused the same frames sometimes.

Hell, in the Netflix doc Toys that Made Us, they basically admit that they intentionally killed off all the old toys for this reason.

Not to mention the Deus ex machina ending.

Ready for downvoting.

I had a few tracks from the 1986 release come up on my random playlist of stuff brought over to my phone from my iPod, this morning.

For a kid at the time, 1986 movie was jaw dropping. It was darker and more violent than the cartoon. Never expected Optimus to get beat the frick to death right at the beginning. Then there’s a transformer that eats planet?! Mindblown. Saw it a couple years ago and of course it’s dated but it’s still good.

The fall of autobot city was great. Even the lazy Unicron voice acting.

But for all that we have the Junkions ewoking it and Judd Nelson defining Hot Rod.

I guess that means Steinfeld's character marries a man named Witwicky who goes by the name 'Sparkplug"?

Her son, Spike finds a yellow '77 Camaro...

The 86 movie is still the best. They cut a lot out which is why some of it didn’t make sense.

Watched it in the theatre in September and it still held up. Wheelie and Blurr were still annoying af.

Did they ever make an extended cut?

No, sadly.

Frick, I’m a nerd for knowing all of this.

I've been re-watching the movie with my 6 and 4 year old boys. They've been super into Transformers for over a year, especially the older one, and after we watched it the last time they wanted to re-create the Autobot city battle in their room with all their transformers. It brings back so many childhood memories. We've been jamming out to "The Touch" and "Dare" while in carpool.
