Just watched it. Sloppy editing but the story was pretty cool. Would love to see where they take it in the sequels.

After seeing the horrible reviews, I don't think there will be a sequel.

They've already announced a sequel is coming.

Watched it this afternoon, the only bad part for me was how they beat you over the head and shoulders with the racial issue at the beginning. They really went faaaaaar overboard with that.

I would watch a sequel, just not pay to see it in a theater.

I liked it, and I didn't see anything about the racial issue. The entire premises is this.

Imagine the world of Lord of the Rings, now imagine all the races on it survived until the modern age. Now as we know in Lord of the Rings, the Orcs were servant of the Dark Lord Sauron.

Now here come the twist. The eternal battle between the Forces of Good and the Forces of Evil was at a stalemate until an Orc united all nine races of the world.

The Races we know for sure that exist in bright is.

HUmans
Orcs
Elves
Dwarves
Centaurs
Dragons

Anyway, sometime in history one Orc Warlord united the Orcs and lead the charge against "Sauron" thus turning the tide of the Eon old war and resulted in a victory.

Because of that, the orcs were accepted, Grudgingly into the normally good races. They are looked down upon yes, but mainly because the orcs races as a whole have been bad guys for so long.

For the old allies, a lot of the racism stem from the fact that the orc as an entire race, choose to serve the Dark Lord, however they did also turn on the Dark Lord and attained victory so thus the racism.

Some people have looked beyond that, some haven't. Either way, the world in that day and age is like what we expect except for one thing.

1. Elves because of their longevity, pretty much rule the world. They have their own section of town that is upper class pretty much.

2. California is a hell hole. The other part of the country is fine with their orcs. There was an excerpt in there that said that places like Florida are welcoming to Orcs and they allied races get along well there.

So yeah, only California is shown to be racist toward Orcs.

3. Magic is regulated and classified as a WMD. The general public think that Magic is gone.

4. There are magical artifacts, and if anyone that touches it that's not a wizard, they will blow up and die.

5. California is the last state to induct an Orc cop into their ranks.

So yeah, that's the setting of the world. Very neat. Editing could use a bit more work, but I, being a Fantasy fan, found the concept unique.

32% RT score, and a 89% Audience score. Critics really seek to be out of touch these days

I think we are starting to see an overall rejection of critics.

Because they don't understand the premise. Now a days, audience are in tune with fantasy thanks greatly in part to game of thrones and Lord of the Ring.

I just watched it and thought it was pretty solid. Definite Shadowrun type vibe that I dug for anyone who has played those games.

Yeah I finished it earlier. I really liked it. Nice rebound for will smith, and he didn’t overact at all in this movie. It was definitely an interesting story, and I wouldn’t mind seeing more of that world.

At the end during the ceremony they say that Nichols Jakoby is the nation's first Orkish police officer

It was imply that it is in cali. Remember what that other Orc dude said? Everyone having a good time in Florida. ALso the world eyes is on Cali, probably because of the racism that is known there to see if t hey could REALLY work and integrate with the orcs like in the rest of the country.

Well, that's what I took away from it somehow.

I read the bad reviews but watched anyway. Glad I did. I thought it was pretty good.

Will Smith is great in Bad Boys type roles where he isn’t going for an Oscar.
