Gilligan's biggest accomplishment may have been having a season as compelling as season 5 after his kills off someone like gus.

*SPOILERS*

Okay, I'm brain dead and tired and drained, but could someone please refresh my memory on why Walt would want to kill Lydia? TIA.

As much as I liked the ending part of me is surprised how 'safe' it was. As close to a prototypical 'happy ending' as you can have with this series. Walt kills all of his enemies, rescues Jesse, gets money to his family, and dies relatively happy. I thought Gilligan would go in a much darker direction Overall I thought Ozymandius was the better episode but it would have been next to impossible to replicate the emotional intensity it contained.

So is every other TV drama and key actor in those shows going "Well guys, we aren't winning an Emmy next year"?

So she and no one in her outfit could ever threaten Skyler again.
Because he was a prideful frick who wanted to eliminate anyone who ever dared to capitalize on his name/brand.
She was a bitch.

Take your pick.

gus storyline was easily the best of the show

It was

And Esposito was the best actor on the show besides Cranston.

I remember them saying in an interview that his back story would have more to add to the story. I guess they abandoned that.

I would rather have like an extra 30 minutes to see the aftermath of it all

I would have like this but I don't mind not having it either. They just finished on a climax instead of having it come down.

I think redeeming Walt (as much as possible) at the end, and him still paying with his life was giving the people what they wanted. Jack, Todd and co really needed to go, as did Lydia (these represent the common, violent criminal element and the "criminal" corporate worlds, respectively).

He did lose his family though, even if his money will take care of them. Scene with Skylar, Holly & Flynn was gut wrenching.

I havent had time to process everything, but what was Walt's original end game had he not been shot?

He planned on dying. I don't think the how of it really mattered.

Unclear, but probably suicide by cop. I really don't think he thought he would walk away from the fight. He's a smart guy.
