God this book was annoying.

Neither of the main characters were likable. Just read 400 pages about two people I hated. (Don't like starting a book and not finishing it)

My complaints:

1. I was fine with the first half of the book being a sham for Amy. But it pissed me off that Nicks character changed 180 and the book acted like his thinking was never a killer mentality after that.

The whole first half it is pretty much him admitting he killed her. He has the mental picture of him beating her in the head, stabbing her, Amy trying to escape crawling away from him. He walks in his bar and the last thing he says is "they saw me."

Then the book goes in to the second half and it acts like he never even said/thought anything from the first half.

2. He would have been arrested way way way before he was.

3. Cops only interviewed him for 45 minutes after the disappearance. Umm, he should have been in the interview room for 8 hours, that would have been easy to write in.

4. Cops don't just swing bye and ask the prime/only suspect one question, or call and ask one question. You go down to the station. And they keep you there for another 8 hour session.

My main two complaints:

5. He gets out on bail There was enough evidence against him it would have been a 5 million dollar bail. Instead, he gets arrested and goes home right after. That was horrible.

6. Amy, after seeing one interview, completely changes her opinion of the guy she plotted to kill for over a year because of one interview nick did. She had this elaborate, fool proof plot, hates his guts, wants him dead, but then he gives one 15 minute interview and she'said ready to kill the guy who helps her when she's in a tight spot.

Sorry for the rant. I rarely read books I dislike this much.

Reading Amys story was like reading a whole book of Cersei Lannister chapters.

In my head I was imagining Andie to be super hot

Checking imdb, her and Amy were pretty much how I imagined them. Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris were Tanner and Desi. Wow.

The movie might be, its has really good ratings.

I just dont see how the book was a NYT's #1 best seller.

The author tried too hard to be funny as well. Amy tried to be this funny/cool chic, and I just never felt she was.

But, Im not trying to say anybody shouldnt like it. I can see how somebody would love it. It was fairly unique.

There were just too many things wrong on the legal end that drove me crazy.

He kept talking about how he had seen too many Dateline's to know not what to say to police. If he had seen that many Dateline's he would know that he would have already been arrested and been awaiting trial about 15 pages in.

You should look at previous NYT #1 best sellers, and you won't be so surprised

All it takes is a 3rd grade writing level and an oprah sticker and you can get to the #1 spot

I'd like to know what reading level Oprah has, because IMO she recommends some shite books pretty often.

I read the book after watching the movie, and I enjoyed it. I thought the changes they made for the movie were mostly good though.

I also read Flynn's other two books, and they sucked. Her writing is a chore to read. She wants to be the type of author great at describing a scene, but she's awful at it.

Didn't read the book but the movie was laughable in how hard Nick tried to make himself look guilty.

I think that has to do more with Oprahs bank account moreso than her reading level
