I think it was ok, Gosling's character and the storyline were way over the top, but it was entertaining at some points.

Carrell as the same old "aw shucks" character just gets old.

i like the movie with Timberlake and Mila Kunis better. The name escapes me. Similar romantic-comedy.

An absolute gem. It made my top 5 for the year:

1) 50/50
2) Win Win
3) Cedar Rapids
4) The Descendants
5) Crazy Stupid Love

Carell plays the part of the awkward everyday guy better than anyone. Like Paul Giamatti in WW, his insecurites lure you in making it easy and fun to root for him during the entire movie. Bravo Stevo.

Didn't see it. Didn't see the same movie about Portman and that dumbfrick Ashton Kutcher either. Is it better than that one?

crazy stupid love was first and foremost a comedy. secondly, a romance story. 3rd, a drama. The whole movie had comedic undertones, however.

Friends with Benefits was the same way. and a better movie overall.

Great movie. A little slow at times, but I thought it ended well. This movie was one more reason I respect the hell out of Steve Carell

nothing about the storylines was the same. Crazy, stupid love was 1st a drama, then a romance, then a comedy. Different story lines, different personalities, different emotions. Come on man. FWB was your run of the mill Rom Com.

She's not supposed to be some super model in the movie. It's supposed to be part of her appeal. Gosling has been bringing home vapid insanely hot girls for years. If they had put her on the same attractiveness level of those girls it would have cheapened the feel. Trying to hint at him leaning more to personality of a woman rather than being a perfect 10. Sorry you missed the point

What the frick are you talking about, dude? I didnt miss any points. I simply said that I don't think Emma Stone is as attractive as lots around here seem to think. That's all. Clearly she's not supposed to be some ultra hot chick in the movie...because she's not a fricking ultra hot chick.

Thanks for pointing out the massively obvious. In other news, water is fricking wet, you asshat.

there were love encounters. people laughed. then break ups. people were sad. then reconnections. people were happy again.

how can you say they weren't similar?

I never watch these types of movies but it was really good. Also, I'm now lusting over Analeigh Tipton big time.

Why would want to contaminate a very well made and worthy Hollywood romantic comedy (and yes, that IS its genre with a couple of twists) with your over the top bloviation?

quote:

Ryan Gosling isn't very impressive either.

A very talented young actor. See some of his earlier work.

I don't think he's handsome enough to pull off the playboy image.

Virtually every woman I know (from 25 to 50) would disagree you.

quote:

Emma Stone, who isn't nearly as attractive as some say,

Emma Stone is a very, very attractive lady. Not the type of "hot" some of the adolescents on TD prefer, but she is extremely attractive and sexy. She also has talent, and that makes her even sexier.
