To answer your questions:

1) Yes, it is the funniest movie of all-time
2) No, there is no way in hell it would be made today

I used to think it was the best comedy of all time. Now I'm starting to think its certainly in the group of being one of the best movies of all time.

Our country would be better off if we all collectively watched Blazing Saddles at the same time.

What's the likelyhood that this movie would or could be produced these days.

What would be the backlash from the PC Police?
I don't think there would be much problem making it today.

It's not racist. It doesn't denigrate African-Americans.

I think even the "Number 6" joke might get through. Might not.

Mel Brooks said that he got a call from Billy Wilder's office after Blazing Saddles was released. Wilder was Brooks' hero so he was excited to get invited to have lunch with Wilder.

When Brooks got there, Wilder said he'd called him because he wanted to meet the man who had cowboys crash into an elaborate Buzby Berkeley dance sequence.

This is such a stupid hypothetical.

Sorry to Bother You got produced.

Get Out got produced.

No one is aghast at anti-racist comedy. Blazing Saddles gets shown every year by "Flashback Cinema" to packed theaters with nary a word said.

The Mary Poppins thing is an overreaction, but if you go to the actual op-ed instead of that short quote, you’ll see that they’re referring to the parts of the book and film where they’re actually mistaken for Africans.

I tried watching this last year. I made it 20 minutes before in turned it off. Not even a little funny in that time.
