Finally watched this with my son. Blah is the best description I can come up with. That was the most vanilla (pun intended) super hero movie yet. It had no soul or heart. I like M'Baku and Nakia is hot. That's the only two bright spots.

The history of Namor and Atlantis has ALWAYS been one of a totally different ancient undersea race (called Homo Mermanus) generally at odds with ALL surface dwelling humans (Homo Sapiens).

Always? Wasn't there an entire Sub-Mariner series in the late 80s devoted to tying up all the contradictions and inconsistencies in Namor's publishing history?

He's petty, arrogant, aggressive, and prone to conflict with the suface over dubious reasons. bp2 kept all of those traits. His origin is also uninteresting. They've just always been there in the mid-Pacific. I don't live the new origin, but it ties the civilization to a geographic area much closer to wakanda than the Pacific, ND it gives the people of that world an immediately understandable reason to distrust and hate the surface, something absolutely necessary to making namor work as an antagonist.

Also, defending Spanish missionaries in Latin America? There's no way you've ever had a history teacher present the Spanish conquest of America as anything but horrifically violent.

Spanish conquistadors were horrifically violent towards some pretty horrifically violent people. I think it's called war.

The Aztecs had slaves, practiced ritual sacrifice of prisoners and conquered neighboring lands (or "stole" them by today's standard).

Europeans brought relative peace to one of the most violent places on Earth.

With their filth.

shite was apparently pretty epic in the americas before the population was wiped out cause people from far off liked to do things like dump shite in their streets or live amongst livestock pestilence, etc

Violent places..suppose Europe never had public hangings or executions..wars..treachery.

Not to mention bringing those slaves over here,..thanks for that too.

The movie was ok to subpar. I like the young lady as black panther, but the maya dude was so boring and predictable motivations. Her finding the bullshite formula for the magic root thing was so damn predictable. Also, all the colonizer talk as if the people living today were inslaved by people living today just based on race is starting to get very, very boring in todays movies. It’s a trope that is so overused to explain away too many motivations of characters in modern media.

For example, 300 years ago a bunch of people did something so we need to wipe out all the surface dweller. Although for 300 years we have lived under the ocean in peace and these surface dweller did not even know we existed. That is a dubious train of thought, why wait 300 years if you are a god? Writers today are so damn lazy.

because the machine that girl built is bringing people to their underwater city and trying to steal thir resources. It's pretty straight forward. They were left alone but they aren't now.

I liked it. I liked the Chadwick send off, the loss in the movie was relevant, and they did a really good job under shitty circumstances with CB dying. Yes it was long. But I found it interesting throughout. And the end credit scene was well done.

I thought the Eternals was the worst Marvel movie ever made.

That was until I watched Wakanda forever what a piece of garbage and a waste of 2 and a half hours this was. What a bloody Shamble of a movie.

Maybe the worst movie I have ever seen period!!!!

Just watched it, haven’t seen a marvel movie in a theatre for sometime now.

It was ok, maybe even good, better than most marvel stuff put out recently.
Not as good as the first BP.

The Disney wokeness basically killed any good feelings I have for it.

Good movie. Basset gave an impressive performance. This Namor is a pussy compared to the comics version. Kept wondering how these Atlanteans handled half of their people disappearing for five years when they had no knowledge of the Thanos snap.

Thought it was slow, boring, and entirely forgetful, outside of the CB send off. They did that in a pretty classy way, but outside of that, eh.

-The colonizer stuff is so pointless to throw in there and does nothing but stir the pot, no clue why they need to include those types of things

-Maybe this is just me being raised with a certain imagine in my head of what certain roles / people are supposed to look like, but that Namar dude looked like such a bitch. I get not every superhero needs to look like Arnold or Stallone, but you can’t dismiss that they have more of a presence when they do. He looked tiny, and his wing feet looked super lame

-They gotta get better at these end of movie action sequences. When they got a thousand people crawling all over something and it looks like a bunch of ants fighting each other with no context for who’s winning, it creates very little intrigue. I found it to be insanely boring

-I guess they’re trying to hit us with a cliffhanger, but Shiri just didn’t get the calendar invite to her coronation ceremony lol? So dumb

I’d say 3/10

Wasn't the real version of that ball-through-the-side-hoop game we see the kids in Namor's kingdom playing the one that resulted with the beheading of the losing team?

Watched it last night. It was alright I suppose. M

Leticia is so hilariously overmatched acting wise with almost anyone she shares screen with.

Winston Duke stole all his scenes as expected.

Lupita is the strongest actress left and she has no interest probably in an expanded role.

Costume design for Ironheart was trash. What a terrible suit. And the female guard suits were absolutely hideous.

Namor was incredibly boring and I didn’t care about him.

Panther clearly just doesn’t work without Chadwick.
