I enjoyed Bird Box. The only similarities to A Quiet Place are that it creates an end of times environment and a heavy part of the plot deals with the body’s senses.

A Quiet Place is more plot driven where I felt like Bird Box is more character driven.

Bird Box certainly created a tense atmosphere and like an earlier poster wrote I’d like to watch it in a horror setting (near Halloween, lights off, etc.)

It was like The Happening if M Knight had actually made it good.

The happening was just as good if not better than this movie. It’s pretty much the same fricking movie except one was by natural forces (posible in reality) and one was by supernatural forces (not possible in reality). This movie wasn’t better because they added bandannas.

It’s pretty funny how much of a hard on you have for a ‘Quiet Place’ and how you’re bashing this one.

Boggarts may seems frightening but they're nothing a 3rd year level spell can't take care of.

Look at haunting of hill house. The youngest was with a black guy. The middle sister Was gay with an Asian girl and the oldest sister was with a Hispanic. Look at every show and movie Disney that has come out within the last 5 years and you won’t find a single thing where they don’t try and force diversity. I wouldn’t care if my daughter dated a gentleman of color because I’m not racist. I’m simply making an observation of what Disney is trying to to do with everything they come out with these days.

Disney doesn't own Netflix and had nothing to do with any of the movies or tv shows you mentioned.

I don't know why having an interracial couple in a movie or show is "forcing it" either. Please come up with examples that are not forcing it b/c it seems like every single time a movie or show has an interracial couple somebody comes running to this board to called it forced SJW nonsense.

This.

Perhaps (as I’ve said in other posts) it has nothing to do with trying to force anything. Perhaps this actor happened to be better than others trying out for the part and we see this more now because interacial couples are no longer “taboo” so now the actor actually gets the job instead of having executives on the film say “but we can’t have an interacial couple. People won’t watch this film if there is an interacial couple”.

This is not a good movie. The idea is great but everything else is cringe.

Edt: it's not up for debate

We fast forwarded to the end too.

The opening withHullock was cringe. But then I was grabbed by a great premise of the unknown.

Then the bad force dialogue began and I cared nothing for human life.

I watched it tonight, and was skeptical, but I enjoyed it. I just wish they would've showed the monsters, but apparently they were so ridiculous-looking (green, baby-faced, snake-like creatures) that they deleted those scenes.

I agree. I would liken it more to the Happening than A Quiet Place.

In math terms I would say Bird Box = The Happening - evil plants + Pennywise.

Plants have the ability to produce toxins. Most of the halucinagens are plant based. Are oak trees going to start producing this toxin tomorrow? No, but at least it’s within the realm of plausibility. Nature finds a way to survive.

What’s its competition? This has been the first truly marketable film of theirs that I can think of. They’ve had better movies that they couldn’t sell to the general lublic as well.
