it feels like Cody has been HOH for three weeks
backdooring Paul was absolutely the right move and having it blow up in his face because of production manipulation is BS, but that is the show

It blew up in his face because he didn't discuss his move with anyone. He essentially split his team in two because of his lack of communication. If he gets his people on board beforehand, he still doesn't really have a huge issue even with the twist.

Yea. If I was in the game, I would have lost my shite on Cody for keeping everyone in the dark about his game-changing move.
That's some bullshite right there.

sure but no discussion means no leaks

I disagree with it being the right move. The only reason Paul is even on anyone's radar is because he was a vet, he hadn't yet formed any true alliances, besides Christmas. Before veto Cody had: Mark, Elena, Matt, Raven, Jessica, and Dom. That is a solid core group, and you had Paul and Christmas as auxiliary players giving them the majority (9/15). Of the other side Alex is the main threat, but she had veto, so the next best player is Jason (physical) or Ramses (mental). If he handicaps them by taking one of them out, his team basically runs through the house pre-jury.
Backdooring Paul without telling anyone fractured his alliance, and for no reason as Paul and Christmas may very well both still be in the house next week. You have Matt and Raven questioning him. Mark is still pretty loyal but wavering, same with Elena. Jessica will be a huge target because no one will believe she didn't know about Paul, and I have zero confidence she wins anything to save herself.
While getting the vet out is normally the smart week one plan, it wasn't in this case. Honestly even if Paul is on the block with Jillian I don't even know if he gets evicted. Wait two weeks and you need 6 votes to evict and your alliance has 7 people and you take out whoever you want.
(Haven't watched feeds since Sunday so some of my info may be off).

Christmas would have killed Cody

Cody doesn't seem to be the type to get talked into anything. He makes up his mind, and goes with it. So I doubt him discussing it with other people changes anything. And if it gets back to Paul, it gives Paul an opportunity to use it to his advantage.
Sure, they should have guessed Paul won the Temptation, but how was he to know what it was that Paul won? He saw people in his alliance getting charmed by Paul, the same way Paul charmed people last year and rode to the Final 2. He had an opportunity to take a shot, and he took it.

i mean, it is his game, he can do what he wants. he doesnt have to run his plans or options by anyone. if he felt that was best, then so be it

big alliances always break up before they are supposed to, because someone realizes they are on the bottom end of it. has there ever been a 7 or 8 person alliance stay together til they were the last 7 or 8. part of his alliance were already wavering before the paul nominee because he wasnt a good communicator.

Yes he does if he wants to remain in a solid relationship with his alliance

I agree he can do whatever he wants, but he has to deal with the blow back. He lost his entire team and had to flip to the "outsiders"
A good HOH talks about things with his alliance and subtly manipulates people into getting his way and making them think the people on the block were their idea.

Oh, c'mon. It was a first-week vote that was for the entire viewing audience (i.e., not restricted to feedsters). Production - and everyone else - knew damn well that Paul would win that vote.

Of course it changes something. They know what he's going to do. It has nothing to do with them changing his mind. You build trust by communicating and sharing info with who you're closest to. He killed the trust they had in him by not letting anyone know what he's doing.

It doesn't have to last all season just another 2-3 weeks.
Hell if Cody wasn't so secretive they could have learned that Ramses was cursed, he told people from the minute it happened. Cody's whole privacy thing is stupid, sure don't be a gossiper but at some point your alliance has to be on the same page.

your best bet is a "ride or die" alliance through the whole thing with "fake alliances the rest of the way.
he can easily flip to jason and alex and kevin right now for a few weeks if need be by the stunts he pulled.
alliance of more than 3 never do any good anyway

I caught up on BBAD last night too and right at the end of the episode from Tuesday night/Wed morning Cody and Jessica may have saved their game by calling Josh upstairs to talk to him.
They basically put it all out there and said he is the swing vote. If he votes to keep Xmas Paul and his crew are definitely going after Alex Jason and Ramses etc.
Josh was so excited that anyone was talking to him that he said he was with them. Said not a single person had talked Game with him (HUGE mistake by Paul and his minions, esp X mas, if true) and had no clue that Cody and Jessica were on the outs with the couples. He thought they were locked down.
Josh went and relayed this entire conversation to Paul.
These people are so dumb.

i agree, but you were speaking in terms of coasting all the way to jury as an 8 person alliance
