Which one of the 3 movie versions is the best to watch? I’ve never seen any of them. 1935, 1962, or 1984 version? Which do you recommend? All 3 seem like they have terrific casts.

I’m a big Clark Gable fan, so I have to go original. But the other two are both fantastic!

ETA: Also, Charles Laughton was the best Bligh.

84, I concur. Gibson and Hopkins were exceptional.

Laughton by a mile. Brando’s was weird at best. Gibson’s doesn’t have the heft of Gable and Laughton’s.

'35 is by far the most entertaining

'62 is gorgeous looking but Brando's, er, eccentric performance throws it out of whack. The Pitcairn Island scenes are especially ridiculous

'84 is poorly made and Gibson isn't strong enough an actor for Christian. But it has one advantage over the others: it accurately presents Bligh & FC as friends before the voyage, instead of Bligh as a supervillain who comes out of nowhere, which changes the entire story.

There was yet another version, made on a microbudger in Australia in 1933, w/a very young Errol Flynn as FC.

I keep hoping for a miniseries that tells the true story
