This. Seeing it in a packed theater back in 1998. The first 24 minutes - you felt exhausted and horrified when that scene finally ended.

It truly was amazing. The girl I saw the movie with at the theatre had a grandfather who was a paratrooper on DDay. I remember her saying he could not bring himself to watch the movie.

Though I don’t think the movie is that good, the opening scene of “Way of the Gun” was replayed a lot during college.

Naked Gun 33 and 1/3 probably has the best opening scene for the worst movie. The Zuckers joked that they should have ended the movie there: YouTube

Here’s one I haven’t seen mentioned:

When I saw that for the first time I thought to myself “I’m going to really like this movie”.

Goodfellas with the "body" in the trunk. When they kill him and the music starts....As far back as i can remember, i always wanted to be a gangster. Lord Of War life of a bullet was good and really worked well with the theme of the movie. Also, any number of Bond movies.

Casino Royale's one was pretty awesome. Skyfall too with the train.

Liked both but I thought Spectre’s opening scene was the best (Mexico City).
