the core story in TDKR really doesn't make sense.
How so?
his injury and how it was rehabilitated (with a punch to the back and a rope)
the climbing out of the pit was idiocy from start to finish (why not climb the rope? a little girl made the leap but a super-humanly athletic man could not?!?)
the whole occupied gotham stuff was not believable and really not necessary to have done in that way
the deus ex machina of the nuclear explosion was cheating in multiple ways

The entire character of Talia al-Ghul felt as if it was forced into the movie.
The whole gun battle/fight scene at the end with the cops running at the criminals was just plain RETARDED. They had automatic weapons and pretty much no one gets shot.
The whole Alfred sitting at a table and seeing the two of them at the end of the movie was stupid.
The whole movie was a convoluted mess.

The Best Explanation of TDKR is the dumbing down of the American Populace.

The avengers was a better movie. It did exactly what it was supposed to do and did it extremely well. TDKR had almost as many holes as Prometheus

So TDKR is a mess, but everything that leads up to the Avengers is prefect?
What was wrong with leading up to The Avengers:
Captain America survives as a Popsicle.
Thor becomes part of the initiative by saying "call me." Plus Thor all together was an abortion of a film. I wanted my 2 hours of life back after watching that. Why put someone vulnerable to ice guarding the effing bridge to the ice world?
Iron Man 2
Is it really that hard to find Banner? Seriously? You let an untrained science geek out run special forces?
I know modern guns are more effective, but no no I'm going with a bow. Also, don't worry about giving me my own movie just throw me in with Thor, and I'll give Black Widow a call and tell her to drive over to Tony's place.
But no no, all the films were redeemed by having just one big side scrolling beat'em up video game of a movie.

why u mad tho?
Here's the difference: Scope and Purpose
The Avenger's purpose was to be an entertaining comic book movie.
TDKR's purpose was to transform the genre into a serious artistic category and shoot for Oscars.
One succeeded and the other failed.

this right here

FWIW complaining about captain america surviving as a popsicle is like complaining about spider man getting powers from a radioactive spider or superman flying to earth as an infant (across solar systems in no time) and then having super powers because the sun is different
of course it is nonsense but it is part of the mythology of each of those super heroes. as long as their movies make an effort to stay within the rules of the universe they establish it doesn't lose the geek element of their audience IMO

Maybe in your mind.
I was bored witless by the Avengers final battle. Sorry, but watching computer generated aliens flying around with the least bit of gravitas is not satisfying to me. Also, the battle on the airship was beyond tedious.

Oh, and great choice of villain in Loki. Was Dr. Franknfurter unavailable?

First, CA got his powers from a "super drug" that was man made. Supes gets his powers from something natural.
Second, space travel is still an untapped means of transportation. There are many theories out there that can explain how Supes could get across space so fast.

completely agree. the avengers, for me, is one of the most overrated films in recent memory.

Nitpicks in TDK are minor in the avenger they are major plot devices

TDK has some major plot problems.
Posted on 4/19/13 at 9:34 pm to DelU249
The Avengers was cheesy and had massive plot holes, just like TDKR, but they're overlooked because it doesn't pretend to be anything more than a comic book movie like Nolan's series.
Posted on 4/19/13 at 9:45 pm to xenythx
The entire 2nd act is a plot hole
And it was boooooooring
And it was boooooooring

Like why Lucius fox didn't know r&D had sonar technology even though he is the only one with access or why Bruce Wayne would break in when he owns the joint or why he's dressed like batman or why he's doing the bat,an voice why didn't he just go get fox or call him and tell him to meet him there
Know why I don't care? Pacing, editing and it's a minor detail that moves the plot forward at a great pace plus I'm really into what's going on
Next up. Harvey dent and sal maroni's car...GO!

That's the only one that ever really bothered me. Not to mention they we already driving down the street before he noticed him.

That's the brilliant editing in the movie
How borin would it have been for him to get in the car then the guy outside drag him out and shoot him
"Hold on, let me flip this coin"
Why didnt the driver stop or say something
Why is the car moving when sal just got in
The driver just closed the doors
But hey that's not important lets move the plot forward. I don't mind nit picks like this and ill say it again
The editing in TDK is some of the best
The point is Harvey is on the war path
Now someone explain to me why Loki planned to get caught and how it advanced his plan and lead into the boring over the top aircraft carrier in the sky scene
