2. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly by Ennio Morricone (1966)
3. West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein (1961)
4. Lawrence of Arabia by Maurice Jarr (1962)

I'm not a huge Star Wars guy but I can understand it being at #1.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is an odd #2. It is one of my favorite movies of all time, but It has one defining part, I guess that's good enough.

I would have a few more Hitchcock films above Vertigo.

Sounds ridiculous, given its labeled kids movie and that I started a Sandlot thread yesterday, but Sandlot has one of the best scores of all time.

Hans Zimmer gets no respect.

Well if animated movies are included, Lion King might take the crown.

"Sunshine" has one of the best recent film scores I have heard in a long time. It's one of the few scores that I think actually made a good movie better. Not counting the last act

Because he's so repetitive. He uses almost the exact same notes in a lot of his scores. He rips directly from his Thin Red Line score to give us the main theme from Pearl Harbor. The main theme from Pirates of the Caribbean sounds remarkably similar to several of his tracks from Gladiator. I find his scores to more often than not disappoint.

Wasn't written for the film

5. Vertigo by Bernard Herrmann
I would put Herrmann's score for Psycho #1

I disagree with the repetition. There's very little of Zimmer's that I don't love.

I could listen to "Time" from Inception for hours.
Agree with Sunshine soundtrack kudos.

Sunshine had one great track and that was about it. The entire Star Wars soundtrack is loaded with legendary themes.

Sorry, just have never been a big Star Wars fan. Enjoyed Empire Strikes Back, could care less about the rest. So the homage to Williams just passes me by I guess.

Very few scores completely meld with the source material like the Conan score.

What does a large minority penis know about film scores?

Yes, juvenile humor but I chuckled.
