I love Ledger's performance and think he rightfully deserved the Oscar for it, same as Phoenix (hopefully he gets it). But Nicholson's appeals to my tastes better, in that I want a comic book mobster villain.

I hear ya, fair enough. In TDK Joker says "this city deserves a higher class of criminal." I guess I like that high class over mobster.

Axis Chemicals scene

Great action, set, and score. Won't see this in mainstream comic films anymore.

I have this exact same memory in Memphis with my mom, I was 7 and I remember feeling so old because I was in the Batman line

Nicholson’s Joker is still great to watch and it continues to be my favorite portrayal of the character
Yes. I am a “Silver Age” DC comics addict. Nicholson’s Joker is closer to that Joker than the two most recent, although they both also put the “S” in sinister and pSychotic in their portrayals. Still not like Silver Age Joker - maybe more like current comics?

Willow and Roger Rabbit are the first I remember seeing. It looks like Willow came out in May of '88 and Roger Rabbit in June of '88

Flight of the Navigator for first memory I can recall.

Willow and WFRR? were legit back when on the big screen.

The 80s and early 90s were good to boys. Jessica Rabbit, April O'Neal, Nicole Kidman licking herself...

One of Tim Burton’s best. The Gotham city streets look great and it’s all on a back lot. Now they just film in Baton Rouge and Atlanta and it looks even more generic.

I'll take DeVito as Penguin over Nicholsons Joker. Hear me out, even though I'm not going to explain it, but hear me out... give me Carreys Ridler over him too.

There is nothing wrong with nostalgia having an impact on how one views a film’s impact.

How good the movie is, well, that is different - and I’m not putting Batman in this conversation - I’m just making discussion. But much does depend on your emotional state and age when originally watched.

We should do a thread on: “Movies/TV you remember as being much better than they actually are.”

I can name a few . . .

Here's some trivia. The Axis Chemicals set was on the same stage and used some left over set pieces from the movie Aliens.
