GTFOH. Snyder's Batman was great.
ETA: The story? Could use a lot of work. But the characters of Bruce Wayne and Batman were pretty fun to watch.

Before you dive into any Batman movies, you need to watch the most faithful adaptation of Batman: Prince - Batdance (youtube)

The only ones you should watch are: Tim Burton's Batman (1989) Batman Returns (1992?) Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins (2005) The Dark Knight (2008) The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
The Schumacher films are not good and awful, respectively, but do add value to the Nolan trilogy in the sense of seeing what came before and providing a benchmark for to show how much better they are.

My hope for The Batman is that they actually focus on Bruce being the world’s greatest detective.
Check out Adam West Batman for that one.

Just the way Zak Snyder wanted for the prison scenes.

This was followed by Burton's first live-action production Hansel and Gretel, a Japanese-themed adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale for the Disney Channel, which climaxes in a kung fu fight between Hansel and Gretel and the witch.
That sounds pretty awesome.

Burton's next live-action short film, Frankenweenie, was released in 1984.
My cousins and I loved this as a kid, and would check it out from the library.

I'd go like this. You definitely should watch:
Burton's Batman and Batman Returns.
Nolan's Batman Begins, the Dark Knight and the Dark Knight Rises.
Then, decide where you want to go.
Batman Forever and Batman and Robin are campy and a sharp decline in quality. Watch for camp value if you want.
Snyder's Batman v Superman, Batman is the best part, but the rest of the movie is bloated and sort of a mess. Justice League doesn't do much with Batman and might be the most average movie I've ever seen.

Watch Nolan's first: Batman, Begins The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises
That way you'll have seen The Dark Knight before you get burned out.
This. There's a lot of hours in all the rest of those films...don't ruin the best movies (above three) by eventually losing interest in all the earlier ones first.
And personally, I'd put BvsS and Justice League after Tim Burton's stuff, not at the very bottom as some have said. I went in to those hating the idea that Ben Affleck was Bruce Wayne, but actually think he did a good job of playing an older, darker Wayne.

We are all getting ahead of ourselves. We dont know OP well enough to know if he wont appreciate Bat Nipples or not.
Plus after watching those movies you can truly appreciate what Nolan had to unbury.

I may be in the minority, but I enjoyed Val Kilmer's portrayal of Bruce Wayne / Batman.
If nothing else, it gave us this gem.

quote:I was fully onboard for Batman Forever at the time. Returns was just too damn depressing. I really liked that they started the film with that action sequence fighting Two Face. Possibly the first superhero film to do that.

It hasn't aged well, but it's still a fun superhero film.
Batman and Robin is just embarrassing.
