I would be irate if they don't show up again. Zero chance of that imo
The amount of screen time they get i am a little worried. Both of them are so funny. 2 best characters on the show if you ask me.

IMO, The Leftovers is the greatest show of all time. I re-watch it every year and enjoy it more every time.
Top 3 for me.

Did it ever mention what part of the US they were in?
No, they did not. The whole episode was somewhat confusing me. The desolate, blank desert landscape of where Barry currently lives is the same as his flashbacks or memories of him and Fuches when he was a kid. The only thing that doesn’t seem like a dream or memory is when Sally is in town.
The setting of the episode made no sense for a few reasons.
1. The house is in the middle of the desert. Just really odd to see with no driveway, landscaping, or any other houses in the distance.
2. There are no roads anywhere nearby.
3. There is no electricity running to the house. I understand you can bury power lines, but I didn’t see a transformer in the yard.
4. If it is that rural then I doubt they would have internet good enough to constantly stream unless they have Starlink.
5. The boy Barry’s son fights is just randomly in a field by a tractor with his dad. No houses in sight. The same with the kids playing baseball.
6. Does Sally have a vehicle? There is never one parked at the house, but yet she drives to work in something.
If Bill Hader wouldn’t have said this episode was 8 years in the future I would’ve argued that this was some type of dream/imagination sequence. Just an odd way to set the episode.

Maybe...
The next will be the other outcome after he escapes prison. The last two will be real-time.

It makes me wonder if any of it is actually happening or if it’s all in Barry’s head in a psych ward somewhere.

That would be some incredibly lazy writing.

I just discovered The Prestige TV podcast last week and I highly recommend it for any Barry fans.
LINK
It’s 30 minute show recaps with Bill Hader and it comes out the day after the episode. He breaks down the why and takes questions from the host.
I just listened to this weeks and he said this was a one off episode and we will go back to the normal characters next week.

Anyone else hoping for a bj scene there?

I can enjoy Barry as a bipolar murderer, but I'm not enjoying him as a shitty parent.

Welcome to the board, actor who played Bevel on this week's episode of Barry.

If they go back to normal characters then we know that both Barry, Sally and Gene are still alive but I have to think that this was a "dream sequence" for Barry set 8 years in the future.

I don't want to get into the symbolism of the last episode because I think it's supposed to portray Barry finally having the peace he was wanting by settling down and having a family but the setting still suggests an emptiness in his life and the feeling of loneliness still lingering around. I don't mind a time jump, but like others have suggested, they didn't pull it off quite like Better Call Saul, Hader mentioned in a post episode interview this episode was re-written a couple times and end result only took him two sittings. I think he was just ready to push the story forward.
I will say though Sally does have a vehicle, she took a phone call at a gas station and she was using the pump.

Is the pastor audio Danny McBride?
Reminds me of the Kenny Powers audio tapes.

Pretty sure that the hockey player paster was Bill Burr.
I have absolutely no idea what happened during the attempted kidnapping (?) scene.
Overall, an improvement over last week's, but below average overall. Loved everything with Fuches, though.

Pretty sure it was the methy dude from the diner she worked at.
That said, if feels like it was edited to convey her being drunk and out of sorts.
