BTTF has always been one of my favorite trilogies, and HBO has been showing them the past few weeks.

It got me thinking which sequel i enjoy more. Its funny how each time i watch them i think i change my mind.

I still think i enjoy 2 better, just with the futuristic approach and I enjoyed him going back and reliving the 1955 dance, etc. With that said, I do find myself enjoying 3 more and more the older i get as i appreciate westerns more.

Sidenote- In watching 3 for the 50th time last night, one thing that bothered me was why didnt Doc send Marty back further than 5 days before he gets shot and killed? seems like they had plenty of time without rushing it?

I hate the third movie.

The first is one of my favorite movies of all time and the second is a great sequel.

The third feels like a little kids Saturday morning made for TV cartoon.

I like 2 better than 3, but I can watch any of them anytime.

I believe he sent Marty back the day after the date that was on the letter Doc wrote. If he went back before that date, then the letter would have never been written and would have created a time paradox. It's the same reason why they didn't dig up the DeLorean in 1885 after Marty ripped the gas line when he arrived in 1885. Disturbing the car could have caused a time paradox as well.

3 is my favorite one of them all, mainly b/c of Mad Dog Tannen.
1 is my second favorite.
2 is my least favorite Back to the Future movie, and my 3rd favorite movie of all time.

I'd watch any one of them anytime. They had better not at any time ever have the slightest thought pop into anyones head to ever remake these movies.

Ahh. Good catch. That makes sense

My head was spinning trying to figure out how it would work with doc being alive in 1885 and 1955 and also in the grave. Lol

The Doc that was sent back to 1885 was from 1985. So the one in the grave in 1955 was from 1985. The 1955 Doc was from that year and didn't time travel yet. Doc lived his future in the past. Aren't time travel movies fun?

Yeah. Lol

It was 10:30 last night and I was fading so I couldn't put much thought into it

I need to go back and watch the documentary behind the scenes on BTTF. So fascinating

I still remember the BTTF cartoons growing up

Third one is much better.

Second one ruins the first one.

Is this seriously a question?

2 is as good as 1.

The 3rd is unwatchable garbage.

2 is one of the best sequels of all time IMO. 3 is meh.

Off topic a bit but is BTTF 2 the only movie to ever run a trailer for the next one at the end of the movie?

Maybe someone can help me understand this in regards to Part III:

On Doc's headstone, it says "...beloved Clara". So this indicates that Doc meets Clara and they fall in love in the span of just a couple of days. He died on September 7th.

Marty arrived September 2nd and went into town the next day, September 3rd.

Doc and Marty save Clara before she plummets into the ravine (the ravine was named Clayton ravine before Marty went back to 1885).

The only reason Doc and Marty were in position to save her was because they were scouting out the train tracks for their plan to use the train to push the delorean to 88 mph. If Marty had not gone back in time, they would not have been there, and Clara would have died in the ravine. So in the timeline where Doc is killed by Tannen (which only happens in the timeline where Marty does not intervene), how did Clara survive the fall to meet Doc and fall in love enough such that she puts her name on the tombstone? Also, in the timeline where Doc dies, it is still called Clayton ravine.

Am I missing something other than the "just ignore it because there are several timeline plotholes in the series"? I can accept that explanation, but I want to make sure I am not missing details that explains this better.
