I’ll gladly admit that I underestimated the opening weekend haul for this movie. I didn’t know it was opening in China a day early and more importantly, I didn’t think it would open nearly as well as it is. If you told me that China would have a dollar for dollar match of Endgame’s box office opening domestically a couple of months ago, I would have said that it’s opening was a disappointment.

You’re looking at $600 million plus from Wednesday to Sunday from just two countries. A billion is guaranteed.

Okay.....you aren’t getting what I am saying or why.

And the small sentences still didn’t help. Maybe quotes of past posts will?

quote:

If the total number is truly 305 million WW as of right now, including whatever days you want, then it doesn’t matter, the logic I based my prediction on holds

I’m not trying to take away money, no one can confirm definitively if 305 is the count, or if it is 305 + x

Obviously it’s kinda hard to make a statement on a close case if you don’t know what x is right now.

Jesus fricking Christ.

I will say that’s the biggest difference here: China being in from day one as opposed to being muted by weeks of bootlegs

Apparently the Chinese equivalent of #America’sAss is trending wildly ??

It’s ok to be mad. I love when someone is so wrong they have to try and act as if their intellect was above everyone else. It’s simple, 300 US, 300 China, and 400 million rest of the world is 1 billion. It’s got a great chance.

China will probably be slightly higher because it had that 4th day.

Yeah that’s absurd. I may have sniffed a couple of times but I never teared up and I definitely wouldn’t whip my phone out in a movie theater to film myself.

That cuck who was crying for the Episode 9 trailer a few weeks back was pathetic. Then again, maybe I’m just too emotionless when watching a trailer unless some badassery is going down (last two Godzilla trailers got me going).

Yeah, that’s dumb. The theater was going crazy during the final hour, so there were several moments where I participated in the first-pumps, clapping, “oh shite!”ing, etc.

But crying? No. There are heartfelt moments, but nothing that came closing to drawing tears IMO.

#AvengersEndgame soared to over $153M in its domestic opening day #boxoffice incl $60M in THU pre-shows. Both numbers beat the all-time records held by #StarWars TFA. Full opening wknd may be on track for record-smashing $340M+. Official studio numbers to come. #Avengers

Pretty crazy that the China opening is probably going to be bigger than domestic. Probably entering unchartered territory when trying to project the legs in China. I do think this movie will be extremely front loaded and will have similar legs as infinity war.

Probably still finish #2 all time

No doubt. I think 2.4-2.5 billion is where it'll finish. Domestic will be the interesting one to keep an eye on. With this opening, it has a legitimate shot of catching The Force Awakens.

All the numbers point to it passing TFA domestic, but I am going to have to believe it to see it. Think the 3 hour run time will be an issue, also the slower movie compared to IW.

It’ll pass both IW and TFA WW. Domestically it will definitely beat IW. Now TFA domestically is a grind. Possible? Sure. Likely? I wouldn’t say so. Let’s say it does open at $340 million. Let’s do a 2.5 modifier which is what IW had. That puts it at $850 million. That’s still $80 million behind TFA.

It’s going to face stiffer competition in May then IW did in May last year.

I don’t think it has the legs to beat TFA. Probably will finish around 750-800M

$800 million is a given at this point.
