Updates - Mon $3.1, Tues $2.9, Wed $1.9, Thu $1.9. It should do another 20+ mil this weekend which pushes it over 800 mil, domestically. China run is done.

Took me a minute to figure out who Yinsen was. The East-Asian architecture matches the comic version, the character matches the movie version.

Passes 800 mil, domestically. It probably has another 50-60 left, but overseas is dropping fast.

With a further $16.3M, Disney/Marvel’s Endgame brings its cume to $1.88B internationally and $2.684B worldwide. That puts $104M between it and Avatar for the all-time record. A final still will be close for the heroes and the Na’vi. If Endgame falls short, a re-release could certainly get them there, but it remains to be seen which way Disney chooses to go.

Behind China are the UK ($110.9M), Korea ($103.9M), Brazil ($81.6M) and Mexico ($75.6M) to round out the Top 5.]

it seems Avatar was in the theaters at least twice as long than endgame has. They could just leave it on a few theaters and it would pass it.

Looks like Avatars WW record, and TFA domestic record are both safe. If it gets close enough, I could see Disney doing a re-release.

AVENGERS: ENDGAME rounded up $16.4M worldwide this weekend, $2.713B total. Marvel's mightiest will have to gross another $75M to top AVATAR. After 6 weeks, INFINITY WAR grossed another $35M domestic, however ENDGAME is pacing behind IW right now and int'l dropping just as fast.

If Avatar came out today it’d perform like Alita Battle Angel.

Two more weeks in China and they would have cleared it by a comfortable margin. Hell one more week and they would have cleared it.

I still think it clears it, but just barely. Avatar did have an extra $33.2 from it’s special edition rerelease, so that has to be factored in here. Endgame is only 41 million from besting it in initial run total gross. Who knows with school getting out nationwide, some people who were holding off on that second viewing may go for it now.

It's dropping fast though. I don't see how it passes it. China declined an extension for Disney, or it probably would've cleared Avatar.

We’ll see. The next two weeks will tell us a lot. Even if they don’t clear it in the initial run, they can on a rerelease in a year or two. I can almost guarantee that Disney won’t reissue Avatar in theaters ahead of its sequel release because they want one of their in house productions to take that title. They’ll probably add Avatar to Disney Plus a couple of months before Avatar 2 is released if it isn’t on there at launch.

#2 highest movie domestically
#2 highest movie WW
#2 highest movie in China

Not too shabby

[WW] AVENGERS: ENDGAME is reaching its endgame. With another $8.6M worldwide this weekend, total is now $2,730B, or, in other words, $58M away from AVATAR. Unless Marvel *snaps* its fingers and pulls an alternate ending re-release, looks like James Cameron will stay on the throne.

Slowing down quite a bit. Seems likely it will be at least 40M or so short

Yep, but I'll be interested to see if Disney does a re release. Remember that Avatar got one as well.

They ought to do some "See it in theaters one more time" advertising... and "Help us beat Avatar. See it one more time" campaigns.

Better for Disney if Endgame stays at #2. The Marvel brand is strong as frick. The only thing they can sell Avatar on is "And NOW, the follow up to THE HIGHEST GROSSING MOVIE OF ALL TIME!"

Avatar needs an asterisk anyway. Ticket prices were 30% higher because of the 3D glasses.

You people had one job: beat this fricking Smurf Pocahantas ripoff. I did my part and saw it twice. I guess I can go again, but frick.
