I have to say that this was easily the weekest episode yet. The others were all really strong, but this wasn't. The problem with pro-bending is that there are no stakes. Sure this could work in another Avatar story, but Amon and the Equalists are what is really interesting right now, and the stakes are high with that story. If the Fire Ferrets lose the tournament, then its merely a buzzkill for them and nothing more. If they lose to Amon, then the benders are very much screwed. The way they've presented the series thus far is that its one long film split up into a series. I just don't think we needed an episode like this and should have followed up on the Equalist plot. At least it looks like they'll be back next week. I did really like Bolin in this episode, as well as Tenzin's kids.

Aang's story deviated a lot in the first season as well. Korra will get her priorities straight soon enough.

After seeing clips from episode six I can guess

1. Amon crashes the Championship Game
2. Tahno losses his bending
3. Lin Be Fong and Korra work together to stop Amon

Looks like a pretty good episode is coming up

Lots of episodes to go, gotta have some filler. The first series did this as well.

As I watch today's episode a thought hit me.

Anyone else find it strange that 2 episodes ago when Amon had Korra dead to rights to take away her bending she didn't go Avatar state?

oh and the police at the probending match made classic mistake you watch the crowd not the event

fricking Comcast. Didn't record for some reason today and it's not showing coming on at all this next week. Can somebody tell another time it's supposed to air?

She clearly doesn't have the spiritual part of the Avatar down, she might not be able to yet.

This was a much better episode, loved the probending announcer when he was about to be attacked "I am currently wetting my pants!".

Spiritual side is required to control the avatar state and go into it whenever, otherwise it is a self-defense mechanism that comes on to protect the avatar.

This the 2nd episode though where Korra had flashes to Aangs life as an adult. There is something to that whether it's a lesson for Korra to learn or a clue to what's happening in Republic City.

Theories abound that Amon is a spirit or given power by a spirit, and I wonder if the lack of Avatar state is linked to that theory.

Ehh, still, that's not exactly required to go into the Avatar State. Mortal danger should trigger it, as well as when the Avatar gets really angry. Aang's least spiritual moments in the series usually resulted in him going into the Avatar State.

I found it on Putlocker.

But this was probably the best episode since the premiere. The pro-bending was much better than last week, the music was great, and Amon continues to prove himself as an effective antagonist. I really have no clue which direction the series is heading, which is great. I hope the next episode are flashbacks to Aang's years.

Electricity type weapons makes great attacks against benders since it's the hardest thing to defend against. Firearms/swords could be defended against by metal benders, blocked by water benders, and bent by fire benders. They cannot stop electricity.

Amon was smart to go after the cheating benders and also able to destroy a large part of the bending police force.

Wonder if Amon could have had a hand in the refs allowing the cheating by the Wolfbats. Wiping the floor with and taking the bending away from cheaters would get him a lot more public sympathy and support for his cause.

That's not true. Firebenders can redirect and bend electricity.

they can from a lightning style attack, but I wonder if they could bend and attack from a glove or club.

Still, it can be a projectile attack, to where I see no reason why Firebenders couldn't redirect or manipulate the electric currents. Granted the Firebenders that know this are few and far between, to where this is probably the best weapon to their disposal. I'm glad they gave them some form of a firearm, since there's no way the Equalists could have been that big of a threat with merely chi-blockers.

EDIT: Also this series I think has been proven to be as impossible to adapt to the big screen. I can't think of much that could be omitted out of the first 6 episodes (maybe some of Episode 5 and the beginning of Episode 6), and we're half way through the first season. The series has proceeded at such a rapid pace that there's no way they could make this into a good film unless you have one hell of an adapter. There's more plot in these 6 episodes than there was in the first season of TLA. Plus I highly doubt that pro-bending would translate to live action that well.
