Green Arrow is more like the Flash than Batman personality-wise

I disagree, traditionally speaking, Green Arrow is lefty liberal and Barry Allen is a conservative (not religious) a good reason they both mesh with Hal Jordan so well(he's kind of in between).

ETA: and this show jumped the shark

Political leaning has almost NOTHING to do with personality.

Watch the 2005 version of The Producers with Broderick and Lane. Barrowman is the guy that sings "Springtime for Hitler".

Oliver only had five years of training. If the writers had stuck to strict logic then the entire cast would've been killed off in the first few episodes. It's a show about earthquake machines and immortal secret kings and scientists who shrink and run faster than bullets.

Just enjoy Felicity's arse and relax like the rest of us.

answers like this are so stupid, I'm sorry. Just because there are fantastical elements does not mean anything goes and just roll with it. That's really lazy writing. I don't need the writing to be King Lear or Brother's Kazmaov, but it has to maintain some verisimilitude. It is one thing when Oliver (or Bruce Wayne) whip up on some LOA flunkies, but when you have Laurel beating their arse like that, it really diminishes them as a threat.

Agreed. Laurel should have been restricted to street thugs/ damage control for this season at least. Maybe have her and Nyssa go do some secret island lesbian training over the summer break so she can come back better next year.

Probably shouldn't watch a comic book show?

why would anyone care in that case? If no character can die, what's the tension? Why doesn't Oliie bring back his mother ? Why didn't Merlyn bring back Tommy or for that matter his wife? By this standard the only reason to not bring someone back is choice of the living. I'm fine with some fantasy elements, stretches of reality, just make a plausible explaination (alien from a planet with a red sun, has super abilities on planet with yellow sun is at least an explaination) if the writers don't stay at least bound to some reality, it becomes stupid.

they did that at first. She really struggled and was in dnager, even like 3-4 episodes ago, when she chased a guy and he pulled a knief (2 as Nyssa pointed out after she took him out

Yeah, I know, and I was totally good with that. It's just when she starts taking on League of Assassin guys that it starts to bother me. By itself it's not a big deal, but with the problems this season had it just added on.

I mean, in the interest of time, its just really difficult to make that believable. They had Roy doing serious damage after a half a season. They needed Laurel and Thea to become really good fighters really fast. There is no good way to do it. How believable is is that Diggle could handle League members after being in the military? There is a lot here thats hard to explain. So they try by having Thea train with Merlyn, then having Oliver praise her on the island (boom, she is good). Then Laurel gets her arse beat, trains with Nyssa (boom, she is good). Its just how it is.

On the subject of the article I posted on the last page.

I am ecstatic they are going to "lighten up" the show. But is anyone else discouraged about his attitude on this past season? He defends it up and down, and basically says that he revels in the fact the show was so sad and downtrodden. Do they just not see that relationship drama was the only thing "dark" about this last season? In all reality, that was the entire season. Family drama(Ollie, Thea, and daddy dark archer/laurel, sara, and papa dumbass/Nyssa and Daddy livelongtime/suicide squad wedding) and couple drama(olicity, relicity/ Thoy/Ollie and Whiny diggle). Those themes drive the entire season. It's what made the actual antagonist so damn awkward for the back half of the season.

Awwww, my post made Felicity sad. There she is crying while stomping off in heels and a skin tight dress again.

I will try this here first, if no one replies I might start a new thread.

I am rewatching Season 1 for no particular reason. It helps me sleep strangely enough. I am on episode episode 6. In the episode, his father appears to him on the island, and says a few things in the conversation that Ollie couldnt possibly have known. So it begged the question of how did he hallucinate what his brain didnt know.

Also, he says "I'm hallucinating, or dreaming" his father interrupts and says "What if you weren't?" Then starts admonishing him.

I say all that to say this. Didn't the show runners say there were going to explain that this last season? I remember that being referenced in an interview somewhere last summer before the season started. Did I miss that completely, or did the show change directions that much from first day to last day?
