I'm 90 % positive that was Merlin in the promo and I think the reason he was sending Oliver to his battle to the death with Ra's was a test to see how much he loved Thea knowing she's Merlin's daughter. He knew Oliver didn't have a prayer in hell to kill Ra's and that is why he is there waiting to either help Oliver or take him to the Pits. But Oliver is definetly not dead
I agree with all of this.
Now on to my question. Did Ra's sort of but not really have mercy on Oliver? He played around with him for the entirety of the fight, then put the sword through the side opposite of his heart. Dude is the greatest assassin there is and he left a glimmer of hope. Granted it is an extremely small chance Oliver survives without the pits anyway, but just seemed odd to me.
Next question, why did Oliver look like such a little bitch in that fight? Ra's seemed like he could have killed him anytime he wanted. Guess I had higher expectations

That's the part I didn't like. Oliver is always controlled and he looked like the 5 year old so mad at his brother that he just blindly runs and it. Old brother just keeps moving away with ease
As you might can tell I have older brothers

Perfect analogy

I mean that's exactly what it felt like to me. I think it was done on purpose but for me personally I would have had Oliver not look like such a wild swinging clown.

Maybe Oliver knew he was done and wanted Ra's to end it quickly.
Also, does anyone think that Atom becomes a part of the team, or at least a hero in his own right?

You have to understand that Ras is centuries old and his experience in combat dwarfs Oliver's. There was no way Oliver could match Ras in single combat, the fact that he looks so outmatched is because he is, and by a wide margin. That's what makes Ras so terrifying.

He'll become a hero, but I doubt they have room on the show to make him a permanent part of Team arrow. Heck, they already have Oliver, Diggle, Felicity, Roy, and Laurel is on deck. I can't imagine them being able to throw The Atom in the middle of Team Arrow.
I would love to see them do a spin off series with him. I've actually liked the character, and think Roth has done a pretty good job with it.

I understand that but that doesnt just automatically make Oliver ran and swing at him without any thought. If you watch it again he is constantly just blindly attacking Ra's.
Kinda like how lSU refused to pound the rock again Ole Miss last year and just threw pick after pick when we were running the ball down their throat

I think we also need to take into account he just climbed a mountain and was probably weirded out that they made him fight shirtless.

Bitches probably took a helicopter up there while they watched Ollie climb, laughing their asses off.

Yeah, that was just goofy. Nothing but the producers wanting another shirtless scene for Amell.
But I did think it was a little cowardly of Ra's to make Oliver tire himself out by scaling a mounting, and then forcing him to fight to the death bareback immediately afterward.

Especially because he has no way of knowing how long Ra's had been there.

I really don't know if I can wait until 1/21 to see what happens

Maybe the actor that plays Ras is terrible at fight choreography and Arnell had to look that retarded to make him look better?

I thought the choreography was pretty good. It just showed Oliver was a novice sword fighter while Ra's has been doin it for lifetimes.

Honestly, I don't remember the fight looking that bad either. I was commenting based off Tebows post. Gonna rewatch that scene later when I get off.

I was put off with how unsettled and undisciplined Ollie was fighting. It looked like Ollie training Roy.

I think that's how they wanted it to look.

Exactly Byron. I think it was on purpose but I wasnt a fan
