I never read the book (sorry) only because I thought it was going to be a 2 or 3 part movie.

Any info on when they're gonna make anothr one or did they give up on it like they did District 9 (when/are they come/coming back)

I hope to god they dont.

You can't really have a sequel to an abortion.

They had plans for sequels but the low box office numbers made it not very likely

Hope not.

On the other hand, I'd be on board with a one season mini-series on AMC or HBO or something that takes the first book all the way through and allows Ender and his class to age.

Has anyone read the books following Ender's game (e.g. Speaker of the Dead, etc)? Are they any good?

I read Speaker and Shadow of the hegemon, years ago. Those books, like Enders Game, would be hard to put on film. Enders Game just isn't made for film, and that's why I'm more forgiving of the movie than most.

Read them when I was a teenager, then again a few years ago.

It gets extremely philosophical and preachy. I remember the next 2 books being pretty good, but the last gets extremely hokey, even for sci fi.

Now that I think about it, they don't really have much to do with Ender at all.

If you wand more in the Ender's Game universe, i'd recommend the Bean books (Ender's Shadow) first. It follows the same storyline but from Bean's POV.

They are VERY different. I'd advise reading Ender's Shadow before moving on to the sequels. It tells Bean's story in relation to the same events occurring in Ender's Game.

I hope not. The books weren't that good and really wouldn't translate well to a movie.

I read the Ender series and the Ender's Shadow series.

Ender's Game is by far the best, and the Shadow series was a very good read too. The other books in the original series were very different than the first, and they got weirder and weirder the more I read. I finished them and I remember the story ended very abruptly. There is allegedly another book coming out that will combine and complete the storylines of both series. But I'm not holding my breath.

I made it to the middle of Xenocide and was bored out of my mind. The fact that I didn't agree with what it was trying so hard to preach didn't help, but I'm usually above abandoning a good book/series just because it has a different POV than mine. In this case, I think the book just sucked.

This. I pushed through Speaker of the Dead and stopped about a quarter into the third one.

Same situation as above. 3rd book totally lost me. It is still sitting in my center console in case I ever get caught in a major traffic jam.

I hope not. The first movie sucked donkey nuts.

The 2nd movie is heavily cerebral.
